Question about Olympus Camedia C-720 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera
I've had my c720 for about 2 years, and a few months ago it started having problems... sometimes (and recently, often) when I try to take a picture, instead of taking a picture the camera freezes and the red light on the back flashes for a long time. While this is happening it is totally unresponsive- I cannot turn the camera off or anything. It usually takes several minutes for it to recover. Taking the batteries out can force it to turn off and "reset" but obviously this isn't acceptable as a long-term solution! Any ideas??

My C-720 also started exhibiting this problem after a couple of years. I tried going to standard alkalines instead of rechargeables, but it didn't affect the problem. The only thing I have been able to do is wait out the lockup period (~1 minute) and pop open the battery cover to de-energize the camera. Of course, then I have to reset the time/date, etc....poor solution.

When trouble shooting a digital camera, you only have two options: Battery and Memory Card. If you are using rechargeable batteries, it is possible that one battery is bad. It is also possible that the charger is bad. So, buy 4 Alkaline AA batteries and try them. This will either confirm that your present batteries and/or charger is defective. Or it will confirm that you don't have a battery problem The only way to know, it to try it. ....... The same applies for the memory card. Try another memory card and see if that helps. .....
