Is it possible to sync with Outlook from miles away?
've got to buy a PDA for my boss
(which is not much "computer fan"...)
the only wish he has is :
"when I'm travelling,
I need to synchronize an agenda
with the Outlook of my computer in the factory"
factory doesn't have ADSL
and my boss's computer can reach the net
via a LAN workgroup and RNIS
(it can reach but it can't be reached... 8o/
and my boss already have a Nokia phone
he wants to keep.
So, the questions are :
=> is it possible ?
=> how ?
=> and wich PDA(s) ?
by the way...
I still haven't chose between Palm and PocketPC,
so don't hesitate to tell me why you prefere PocketPC...
; o )

Re: is it possible to sync with Outlook from miles away?
Yes it is,
But I think it's difficult to run. I found out this.
"Gateway public IP Adres
Lan Adres Host (vast IP adres, dus geen DHCP)
Poort setting VPN en Firewall (hard en software settings !)
Type router, bv 3Com 3CR856-95 (Secure Gateway) en eventueel firmware releases. (ivm Firewall opties)."
This is what a friend of me uses to acces his pc with his communicator, yes I know it's a symbian os device, but I think it should be possible with any device... ?not?
It reads that you should run a Bitween's Remote Control application an fill in this fields in this protocol an you can "Hack"into your own system an with this tool can sync.
So it can be done but how exacly I couldn't find out.... Sorry.
Good luck figuring out how!

i googled your question and found the apple page. in case it doesn't load or is blocked, run the setup wizard for outlook first, then sync after because outlook will not sync unless it has made the file first
pls tell me what do u want to do with active sync bcoz this small piece of software gives lot of trouble in winxp , vista WMDC works ok , i know u are frustrated with microsoft support infact support one some issues does not even exist at all , this problem is not from ur PDA it is from this malfunc software that is called active sync , pls let me know if u use active sync to backup ur contacts then u can do it with SPB backup better than active sync without errors u can losd it it to ur pda and can make backups from ur pda not pc dependent at all
You can only sync your inbox through Activesync with Outlook not Outlook express. There is a full version of Outlook on the CD that came with the Axim. You should be able to move your data from OE into Outlook.
your t5 is UNSTABLE possibly due syncing to an old username from an old PDA.
To correct this:
-delete manually the doubles (PDS has a tool but none for outlook)
-perform hard reset on your t5
-hotsync - creating a new user name (do not use the old one)
-you will be asked to use the same profile name for the outlook
Then you should be good to go.
Active Sync will work with many version of outlook. Your PDA interfaces with Active Sync.
Certain versions of Windows Mobile software and/or PDA's require higher versions of active sync to sync correctly.
