JVC GR-D90 Camcorder Lens Cap Problem

I have a JVC GR-D90 camcorder - owned less than two years. Recently, the camcorder has begun to display a "lens cap" message when powered with the lens cap off. No video is present - thus camcorder is unusable. Sent a query to JVC, but no reply. I've checked a few other forums and found this to be a persistent problem for a variety of JVC camcorders, but nothing on possible solutions. Does anyone have any hints on rectifying the problem?

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

This is a known fault, JVC recalled a lot of these camcorders in 2007. They were manufactured with defective components. Contact JVC customer Services and demand a replacement.

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.
