Usually you can use any brand router to use a wireless connection- I'm partial to the ease of setup and cost of Belkin routers- however I've heard good things about Linksys and Netgear. (personally 8+ years of always on service and reliability from the Belkin I've had predisposes me to Belkin.)
Just remember that if the modem is set to 192.168.1.1- you would need to have the router use 192.168.2.1 as it's IP address. (another thing in favor- by default Belkins are set to gain a connection automatically and use 192.168.2.1)
at that point, it's a matter of configuring your Iphone to hop on the wireless network

According to the manual, you can purchase any wireless router (manual calls the router "air base")

I would advise a D-link or a Linksys router.

I am trying to figure out how to connect my Linksys WRT54GS2 router to my Hughesnet HN9000 modem. I have already attempted what hughesnet website told me to do and it didn't work. I have it set up...

DHCP and static IP are two different things. DHCP assigns IP addresses, and static Ip just means that the IP address stays the same, and is not dynamic. You probably need to reset the modem to accept what it sees as a :"new" router. Turn off both router and modem. Restart the modem first, give it a minute to boot up, then turn on the router- in that order. It should be ok now.

HN9000 won't pass remote services

On the Router check if you have UPnP enabled, if yes then Disabel it that should fix the NAT issue and then you need to open the port number 1723,3389. Once these ports are opened then you will be able to access it on the VPN and Remote Desktop Provided you have a WAN IP Address from your ISP. also check the Firmware of the router if its updated or not.

I am hooked to hughes high speed when go on line and go to modern warfare 2 and join the game my man wants freeze up for about split second all through the game it takes about 4 seconds to even to reload .

Hughesnet isn't the greatest for attempting to play online. Even though it is better than dial up, it isn't a consistent speed, and you will run into lag and timeout issues along with the occasional freeze.

I need to connect linksys router to hughesnet hn9000 modem

First make sure you are able to go online when your Hughes-net box is connected directly to the Computer.

Then go to this Link and you'll get all the information you need Setting Up Wireless connection

Note this number Linksys Tech Support 1800-326-7114. It'll come in handy.

Connecting D-Link DI-634M to HughesNet HN9000

Both units can not have the same Gateway IP.
Do this:
Hook your PC to the HN9000. Do an ipconfig /all
Write the IP info down.
Then open up the D-links set up page and set it to a static IP using the info you gathered from the HN9000. Select an IP in the range that the PC picked up. I usually use .100. Also, when you set it statically in the D-Link, make sure that you type in the Primary and Secondary DNS.
Once you set the D-Link statically , you should be able to browse the Net through the D-Link.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Connecting D-Link DI-634M to HughesNet HN9000

I hate it when ISPs give you devices that dictate how your network has to be setup. They should just give you a modem which give a public IP to whatever connects to it.

For this to work you have to connect the cable from the hughes box to your router on one of the four regular jacks on the back NOT the internet/wan jack you would normally use.

Set the IP of the Dlink to 192.168.0.254
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default GW 192.168.0.1

This SHOULD allow the router to act like a switch. I have a linksys that has an option to make it function as an access point , which is what you need for this modem, but I dont see any option for the d link you have to do that.

Hughes have a knowledgebase which may be of some use to you.
