I have a Motorola SBG6580 Router and everything was working fine. Now the Router doesn't have any range it's only a couple of months old. I used to be able to be at my neighbors house and my Iphone would pick up the signal. I have Netflix on a TV like 30 foot from my router it used to work great now it's like out of range. Also my Iphone will not connect anymore in my living room. If I get about 15 foot from my router and it works..

SOURCE: Switched to cable(arris modem) can't set up network

cable dsl same thing. Did you switch providers and get new modem from them? If so. Just delete previous netowrk and install new one let pc discover new one. Also, with your router you got a disc. It should install correctly. Perhaps it is previous network that is hindering you.

SOURCE: ARRIS Modem + D-Link router = no internet

when you are on Cable Internet with a "modem" only connected directly to the computer, what the ISP see is the computer's MAC Address (command prompt -> type ipconfig and hit enter).

put a router (which has it's own MAC Address) in-between and the ISP wont let you cause it sees the router not the computer.

check physical connection: cable modem -> router -> computer(hard wire for this troubleshooting)

access the d-link gui and locate the “Clone MAC Address" button (supposed to clone the computers MAC Address - verify if it's the same), save settings & reboot the router.

SOURCE: Wi-Fi isn't working

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

SOURCE: Motorola Surfboard 4220 not working with my Netgear WGT624 router

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.

Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not work.

Inconsistant wireless signal in house

Have you checked that the signal on your new cable modem/router is strong enough to reach your wireless devices? You may need to re-site the cable modem to get better coverage in your home. Your old one probably worked fine in the same position but that doesn't mean a new one will. There are a few things you can try to get the best of the range it has. Internal walls and furnishings all play a part in reducing the effective range of the router. Most routers will give you at least 50 metres indoors. Keep the router as high and as far away from walls as you can, this will greatly improve the range. Try to ensure the router is not screened by large near by metal objects such as steel PC cases, these will absorb wireless signals and reduce the range.

Wifi disabled on router

Sounds strange, unplug and plug it back in to see if you get lucky. If your sure there is nothing else preventing the wireless form being activated you might have to reset the router and hope that works. Good luck.

How to log in to router

Open an internet browser, in the address area type in 192.168.0.1 (this is the normal address used by the router). Once the router access screen appears try usinfg the factory default login USER = ADMIN, PASSWORD = MOTOROLA.

If this does not work you can try using the reset button on the rear of the router to reset it's setting to factory default settings and try the above method again.

NOTE: If you are unsure about anything you can also try asking your ISP how to access the router settings. (If you received the router from an ISP). Otherwise use the manual at this internet location for more information. http://www.midcocomm.com/_files/files/SBG6580.pdf

Where do I find PIN number for Motorola SURFBOARD sbg6580

It is located on the bottom of the router. If the PIN # doesn't work because it has more than 8 digits, click in the option towards the bottom of the window where it says something like "enter pass phrase/password instead." The password is also in the bottom of the router under "WPA-PSK." And you are done.

Have an SBG6580 and purchased a NETTALK DUO (VOIP). Which is trying to connect but can't. Tech support at Nettalk tried to change some settings but it looks like modem is still blocking the port. ...

The only way I got the NETTALK DUO to work keeping my SBG6580 is to use it in cascading mode with my old Linksys router. When I plugged the DUO into the Linksys it worked great.
