SOURCE: E-105G System error?

Apparently the device worked before you attempted to install Quake1. So component wise all should be well. One more thing you can try is to remove both batteries & leave it for a while. Install the main battery & then the Backup battery. Before starting make sure the main battery is fully charged. Now try to start the device & hopefully it should boot normally. If it freezes at the starting screen, very definitely something is not making proper contact inside the device & perhaps you should check out the connections within the device following the disassembly instructions at the pocketpcpassion site.

SOURCE: Trouble with installing Windows CE

You do not install Windows CE, it is built into the Cassiopeia. What the CD is is the software for your computer to interact with the Cassiopeia.

You will want http://www.hpcfactor.com/ftp-root/software/microsoft/activesync/activesync-38/MSASYNC.EXE

Install drivers for ethernet card or buy a usb to ethernet adapter. That will get you on the net so you can install your other drivers via thinkvantage installer. Or you can just cruise the net with the usb to ethernet adapter itself.

No internet connection, system stuck on ''acquiring ntwrk address''

It's doing this because it's not getting the IP from either the router or the modem. Goto Start, run and type cmd. Now type ipconfig /all. On this this list you should see IP address = 192.168.??.?? andDefault Gateway = 192.168.??.??. If your getting both of these addresses then your system if infected with virus. I suspect though that your list is probably not filled out. If so type ipconfig /flush dns. Then type ipconfig /renew. These commands should bring you back online, if not I would call Conmcast and have theme ping the modem. If the modem pings fine I would say that either your modem cable or network card are faulty.

Trying to incert a wireless modem

There are several types of wireless modems available.
A PCMCIA wireless card that inserts into the laptop's PCMCIA slot.
A stand alone wireless modem that connects into the LAN port (10BaseT connector) with a network cable or a USB cable to the computer's USB port.
and
A USB wireless device (similar in size as a USB memory stick)that connects into the computer's USB port.

Basicly the wireless router needs to be connected into the internet, then you will be able to connect to it. You need to install the card and make sure it works in your device, then connect into the router and it should work fine.

Modem

Yes! the error could be the pcmcia modem card.

A PCMCIA Card is used to connect to your laptop different components that you it doesn't have.
More information about PCMCIA
For most ISPs all you need to connect to the Internet is a network card. Check if your laptop has an integrated network card. Then contact your ISP and ask him if you need something else except a network card to connect to Internet.

Can't get modem to work if I use the USB connection

Your computer is attempting to find the network connection through your LAN port. Your best bet is to reconfigure your network settings to seek its external network connection through USB, or better still, obtain a router(I personally recommend linksys wireless/basic routers due to stability), and simply use the ethernet connection through it. While this is bypassing the initial issue, it is also saving yourself a lot of hassle when it comes to retooling the PC's settings on the USB connection.

You can have comcast allow you to log in using the new firmware at 192.168.0.1. You will need the user name and password from them. This will alow you into the firmware so you can change settings, including the PCMCIA card.
