How to clean fan blades on sunbeam humidifier model 1118

I picked up a Sunbeam Humidifier model 1118 for $7 (which was $7 too much) second hand. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed it was filthy-dirty inside...(dirtier than shown in the photos) the reservoir, the bottom tray, AND the fan chamber all needed major cleaning.

A quick Google search told me that the grill is "not removable", and the unit is "not user serviceable". Companies do this/say this for two reasons:

a) They want you to throw it away and buy a new one, landfills and plastic filling our oceans be darned
b) They want to protect themselves from lawsuits, should someone injure themselves servicing their product (or in this instance, cutting their fingers off on the fan blade).

Imagine if all of that design know-how was put into making the product serviceable, cleanable, and long-lasting, rather than ensuring it can't be opened or repaired by the average joe.

Me, I've opened and repaired enough gadgets to think differently.

You CAN remove the grille.
Carefully insert a series of flat-head screwdrivers between the grill and the body a few inches apart, wedging the grill edge away from the body.
There are slits in the body (see photos) that will allow you to get under the grill edge and pry it right out when enough of it has been detached from the anchoring groove.
But be gentle while you're doing it.
The Grille is plastic and flexible; it will bend, but if you use too much force you will damage either the grill or the body.

The photos also show how the grill is anchored to the body - via a groove in the grille edge.

You can put the grille back after cleaning the blades and fan chamber much the same way; pressing down, and if required: prying the side of the grill inwards with a flat head screwdriver.
Mine snapped right back into place with a bit of downward pressure.

The Flame is yellow is there an adjustment

Yes there is an adjustment on the air shutter control valve. Which is part of the burner system. It will look like the blades on a fan. It should be set at 3/4's of the way open. But, before you jump on that, yellow flames are also an indication that you're running out of gas or the venturi valves on the burner are clogged. Spiders love to build nest in them.. So check you tank.and the Venturi Valves first.

To assist you further, I have provided a link to the Owner's Manual for the new P3 Series grill. It is almost identical to yours, unless you have the new model. In which case it will be identical.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling.

Is there an online video or written instructions about how to replace a burner on a Broilmaster D4 grill

Unfortunately, the D4 series grill hasn't been around since Martin Industries went bankrupt 8 years ago and Empire Comfort Systems to over Broilmaster. However, today's 'P' or Premium Series is the closest to the old D4 series, as far as burners and burner installation and removal is concerned.

I have included a link to the Owners Manual, which shows how to assemble the grill and install the burner(s). Just do the burner installation in reverse. You can download and print the manual for future reference.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Happy Grilling!!

How do I take apart the air purifier to clean it? I have a honeywell HTT-022 unit and it needs cleaning

Here is the owner's manual:

http://www.kaz-canada.com/kaz/support/manual/?ProductManualAction=renderProductManualById&ProductManualId=ee97a4e6784448b6f57acddb2f29a817

It says first to unplug the unit.

While pressing on the two notches along the front of the grille, pull the grille toward you and remove it.

Gently pull down on the top filter frame and pull forward.

Remove the protective wrap from the filter.

Place back into the air purifier housing and snap filter grille into place.

(This is verbatim from the instructions)

How do I open to clean 600 series vornado floor fan

There are three clips the hold the grill to the cowl.
Look along the back, outer edge of the fan.
One clip at 11 o'clock, one at 2 o'clock and one at 6 o'clock.
Use a flat blade screw driver to push the 11 and 2 positions down (do 11 then do 2) and the grill should come off. The blade just pulls off. It only goes on one way (due the the "D" shaped shaft).

Have a Duracraft DT-70. It is dirty and filled with cat hairs and grease on the blades. I can't figure out how to get it apart to clean it.

You will need to take this apart and use a good degeasing spray to remove off al the dirt. Use diesel/kerosene to wash well and clean it dry. Use a good paintt brush to wash off all dirt into the hidden areas.
Wipe dry finally to reset.

I have an older Vornado 280B (it looks just like the current 730 series with the small stand). I've been able to remove the front grill & clean it and the blades, but now I'd like to remove the rear...

It's similar to the 600 and 700 series based on a picture of those compared to the 280b model I have. http://www.vornado.com/product-support/support/faq.aspx

Honeywell HFD 135 FAN BLADES DIRTY

I used a can of compressed air to clean my fan blades and this did the job. I bought a 6-pack of 3M Dust Remover at Sams Club to save money. Hope this helps.
