I just got my TI-83 Plus yesterday and everything was working fine and graphing perfectly. Today, every time i enter an equation and press "graph" all that shows up is the x-axis.

in order to give the calculator a function to graph, you will want to enter the y= window by pressing the top left most button on the calculator.
a menu similar to the one above will open, wherein you can enter an equation for the calculator to graph, such as (x^2-2). On the ti-83 itself, you can enter up to 9 equations to be graphed at once. after that, you may want to go to the window menu, where you can set the dimensions of the graphing plane in both the x row and y column. to view the graph, press the top right most button on the device.
hope that helps :)
You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.
Hello, The marking that so puzzle you define the type of line (or dots) to represent the graphs. Enter as many functions as there are Y variables. After entering a function press [ENTER] to jump to the next one. When finished entering all functions press GRAPH. If you want graphs drawn one after the other, in MODE highlight Sequential (6th line) and press ENTER. If you want graphs drawn simultaneously, in MODE (6th line) highlight Simul and press ENTER. Press 2ND QUIT to return to previous screen . Execute graph again. Hope itr helps.
you have one of your stat plots on that is what is messing it up. So either turn off the stat plots. Or just reset your calculator. hit 2nd then the plus (+) key then 7 then 1 then 2. Good luck
Srry my friend the ti 83 is no magnificent Ti-89. meaning: you have to solve it yourself. There is a method for graphing though. Set the equation equal to zero and then plug the stuff on the other side of the equation into a graph by pressing y= and then typing it in. Then hit graph. Wait for the graph and then hit 2nd calc and select zeros. Bring your cursor using hte arrow keys close to where the line hits the x axis and press enter and then do the same except to the right of that point and then press enter twice and it will display the y which should be the answer There are quadratic formulas for calculators programmed in tibasic for the calc but other than that there is no way to solve it
The first solution will allow you to watch your
calculator graph two equations simultaneously rather than finishing one
before graphing the next; it won't solve the problem of having the
calculator unselect one equation when you select a second. To fix
that problem, try the following:
In order to select additional graphs, the Transformation Graphing App
will need to be uninstalled from the TI-83 Plus Family and TI-84 Plus
Family. Uninstalling the App does not erase it from the calculator, it
disables it from interfering with the normal graphing modes. Below are
the steps to successfully uninstall the App.
