The only 1 inch round disc I can think of is the CD holder mounted on the motor spindle. It would be helpful if you could mention make and model # of the player in question.
I found DVD-R discs with holders on Amazon.com but after ordering find they would not ship to New Zealand. I really want to get 1 or more of these holders. john @ [email protected]
what does this "plastic piece" look like??
that said..
I think its the magnetic disc holder
(round- white- plastic- fits on a cd...)
, it sits on top of the disc drive in the round hole - it holds the disc to the motor when the disc plays...
You have to put it back in its holder above the disc, it goes on top of the "crossmember" if you put a disc in the drive and set the laser to lift up and grab the disc you will know if you have it right because the "plastic piece" will grab the disc and hold it tight against the motor.
hopefully this solves your problem...
comment back if you need more info or if the p[iece isnt what I described and is something totally different.
Turn the thing off, FIRST(!) (please). In the front of the CD holder (in the plate on the front of it) there should be a tiny hole, literally about 1mm diam. Get a paper clip, straighten it out, and then turn the end half-inch/cm over so that it acts as a handle. Now carefully push the other long straight end into the hole (possibly an inch or more), until it contacts something solid. Push it firmly but carefully and the CD holder should slide out. You may need one or two tries at this, but you should be able to do it without too much trouble. This is a recognised method of removing a stuck disc.
Remove the top cover. You will see where the disc are, take care in removing the stabilizer housing, you should be able to get the dvds out and put it back together.
This could be due to a sticky eject button on the front of the drive or a damaged PCB inside it. If it's the latter the only way around it is to replace the drive.
Your problem is either the laser Diode has faulted OR perhaps the Lens is "Dirty" it can be cleaned with a special "Cleaning Disk" but I would think unfortunately that the laser assembly has gone faulty, a common problem unfortunately :(
Current Hitachi Models use no disc caddy for the DVD disc.
The 2003 and 2004 line of Hitachi DVD-Camcorders (DZMV350A, DZMV380A and DZMV550A and DZMV580A) utilize a round disc holder to accommodate the smaller design of the newer models. All previous generation DVD-Camcorders use a square cartridge. The actual discs are the same and can be used in all models as long as the disc is placed in the appropriate holder or cartridge.
