The Image Engine is the combination of the DVD Camcorder lens, CCD, LSI processing circuitry, and the DVD optical laser. Put simply, the Hitachi Image Engine is what drives image capturing in the camcorder. Exclusive and proprietary Hitachi technology.

I have a HITACHI 60in. LCD rear projection tv (model 60v500). I'm getting 2 large oblong red areas in the center of the picture. Is this an adjustment?

Hi,it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. This is how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo So basically the 3 Lcd chips that create the colors and image is going bad and thats why you get that color discoloration.Contact Hitachi or look for your light engine online.God bless you and your house!

Has pink/green horizontal line across top l corner

Hi,if your tv is dlp or lcd you will need to replace the light engine that's in charge of creating the image and colors, and when bad you 'll get discoloration or lines across image.

I have the same bluish ghost image on the right side of my tv.

Pretty much, surfed the internet, and found out that the common problem is the light engine, not the lamp. E-mailed Hitachi and also spoke with a service tech, who actually told me, he has replaced quite a few light engines for Hitachi 50" LCD TV'S. Also, there is a lawsuit against Hitachi regarding the defective light engines. But yet they are still selling tv's without admitting to the defect. Having my tv checked out through the service tech, and then notify Hitachi again for the upteenth time.

First of all sorry for delay.
can you provide a image of yello shadow.I believe it seems to be technically say "ghost image"
If it is ghost image we can try by entering SERVICE Menu and adjust RGB level of the light engine.

Good luck

Green backround on the image

My projector is not a Hitachi but I think the menus are similar. You might try finding "signal" under "setup" in your menu and check to see if it is on or off. You want it "on". I hope this helps.

Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!
