We have a side-by-side Whirlpool Model ED2KHAXVQ01 bought last year. The ice dispenser keeps locking up and getting frozen chunks in it which locks it up. We have STOPPED using crushed ice and only have the setting for ice cubes on Cubes. This is so frustrating. It just happened again yesterday. It seems there is a design flaw because the ice cubes flow into a "bucket" in the door so they're exposed to the air more whenever the freezer door is opened. But we don't hold the door open at all anymore either!

We have a side by side Whirlpool frig/freezer, only a yr old, model #ED2KHAXVQ01. It has the ice dispenser & water dispenser on freezer door. The water and icemaker are not working and we checked for...

I can only think of a couple of things to check, 1. if there is a small screen on the end of the water line that delivers water to the refrigerator, it may be plugged, and 2. maybe the filter in the refredgerator it self is plugged.

Ice dispenser/water dispenser in side by side fridge not working

Your dispenser is child locked. Hold the child lock button for 4 seconds and the key should disappear, if you do not know which key to press I will need the model number from the tag located on inside of the fresh food section top right corner.

I have a Whirlpool(Model: GS6NBEXRL01) Side-by-Side has a sensor on the right side of the freezer and a flap on the left. The light is red and the icemaker is making ice, but will not dispense through the...

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see "Ice
Maker & Storage Bin."
• Press and hold LOCKOUT for 3 seconds to lock the
dispenser.
• Press and hold LOCKOUT a second time to unlock the
dispenser.
Let me know if this is your problem, Can get the manual for you if you like, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool Side by Side Refrigerator Wont dispense ice

if you lift out the ice bucket you will see the "gear" that turns the auger. The gear is metal but the part on the bucket is plastic and this can become stripped out. Also check that there is not ice frozen around the bottom of the bucket where an ice cube may have lodged the chute door partially open and melted some of the ice in the bottom creating a blockage.

Ice accumulating in freezer

There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.

Verify that this is indeed what is going on.

The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!

Ice Will not dispense

Check that the dispenser is not locked. Some models have a lock feature that deactivates the dispenser levers and control buttons. The lock button is on the dispenser front cover. This feature controls unintentional dispensing during cleaning. Press the "Unlock" or "Locked" button to reactivate the dispenser levers and allow dispenser function. You may need to hold the button for 2 to 3 seconds.          http://whirlpool.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/whirlpool.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=110&p_created=1147725595&p_sid=lTIkCMOi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MzEmcF9wcm9kcz0xOTkmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PTEuMTk5JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9d2F0ZXIgZGlzcGVuc29y&p_li=&p_topview=1
