Headset on DTU 8D-2 corded phone

How do you get the headset to work.. There are two jacks on the phone one for the handset, and one for the headset... I cannot get the headset to work unless I plug it into the handset jack...

Thanks,

I can't hear a conversation when I pick up the headset. I can use the speaker phone just fine. When I use the headset, others can hear me, but I can't hear them unless I put them on speaker. This is an avaya 6424 D.

If you are using the headset jack on the phone, a headset key needs to be programmed on the the phone. You can do this in program mode and make a line key a headset key. Otherwise you must connect it through the handset. ldtsnj.com

NEC DTU 8D-2 Corded Phone how do I page?

Standard codes run from 50 to 59. Internal 1,2,3,all, external 1,2,3, all, all internal and external. That's if your codes are at default, and your system is a Pro II, Elite, or IPK. Those phones work on about 8 NEC systems.

How to access voice mail or record greeting on NEC DTU 8D-2 Corded Phone

If I'm not mistaking, you need a NEC PBX to work with that phone. In which case you need to contact your telecom helpdesk to find out what the voicemail phone number is so you can set that up.

I could be wrong about the phone

Unplug the line cord. While holding down the * and # keys, plug the line cord back in. Release the * and # keys.

Follow the directions on-screen, which will test all display modes, buttons, and sounds for both red and green colored LEDs.

If the feature button continues to flash, press it and then lift the handset and hang up.

HEADSET

A button must be programmed as a "headset" key. When activated, it will lamp red, and put the conversation on the headset jack under the phone (next to the handset jack).

Or you can purchase a headset with an auto lifter for the handset. It picks up the handset enough to answer the call, but transfers the conversation to your headset.

Problem with the head set

It requires a headset key to be programmed in Memory Block 4-12 as a type of Feature Access Key in order for the jack underneath the phone to work. Then you just press the button to speak via the headset.

Handset not working

Three possible problems - Bad handset, bad handset cord, or bad telephone. Try another handset and cord from a known good phone. If the problem phone still doesn't work the hookswitch spring may be weak. You can remove the screws from the bottom of the phone and take the bottom off. The hookswitch will have a small spring that you can stretch or rebend to put more upward force on the hookswitch to make it positively go off hook. Also the dtu phones have a jack for the handset and a jack for the headset on the bottom - make sure you are using the handset jack.
