I assume by plugging in Cable coxial signal and going to TV input that the auto scan would do just that, Auto scan, , I am getting just fuzzy picture. Why would the bell signal work/dvd signal work , but not TV?

Yes that is correct. The best work around is to get a set-top box, connect one of the co-ax cables to the box and hook it up to the sharp using RCA cable(Yellow, White, Red cable). The box should cost you about 20-30$ so it should not be much of a problem. You can get it from your cable operator.

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2011

The set-top box is the only way to boost the signal. There is nothing in the menus that can help you do this. I hate to say this but Sharp is one of those stay away if you can brands!Believe me if there was something in the service menu that can do the trick I would tell you.

AS I stated , your advice did not help, The signal was very strong I had to switch from AIr to Cable Please credit back the $15 dollars
    Thak you

Good day!!

OK please try to go to the menu using button on your TV...after that find the auto scan mode...

please complete the 100% scan for better results...

if the problem persist try to play DVD or any recorded TV show to determine if the problem is on the signal or on the TV itself (the tuner is weak)..

I hope this solution will be helpful...

    Thanks for using fixya..

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2011

normally that problem is cause of bad TV tuner that is the parts that responsible for the TV reception process if it is bad or weak your TV is not getting channels or clear channels..

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2011

OK please try to reset first the coaxial connectors and try to touch it and move it gently on your TV..you can move it from left to right while the TV is power ON..

and try to see if there is any changes from the reception..

if there's any changes for good...you have a loose connection on the connector of coaxial cable or on the tuner itself please try to re-solder it

They keep saying signal is weak check your source connection what does that mean

The signal source is the antenna or the cable company's output and the source connection is everything between the source and the tv set.

I have bought a samsung tv ref LE19C450E1W. I have an aierial amplifier set to uhf. My toshiba set works fine. But the samsung reports 'weak signal. I have transposed the sets and the and the samsung...

Different TVs have different specs on the input signal and level. The Samsung may not have an input circuit as sensitive as your other set.
I had a similar problem and added an amplifier from the antenna feed. The amplifier has multiple outputs and now both sets work.
The coaxial cable you use is also important.
For your cabling RG6 is recommended.
I’ve seen installs with RG59, which is a thinner cable and very lossy. It should be used for short runs only (from a wall plate to the tv, if RG6 is too bulky)

Coaxial hookup broke off. Can i use an s cable through vcr? need instructions.

If your Sharp television has RCA jacks, you may use them through your VCR. Your VCR would have to have a tuner and then you may use this as a means for getting a signal. Newer VCRs and DVD players generally do not have a tuner. Thanks for asking!

Audio display flashes in and out in the upper right corner

This usually happens when you are connecting a cable box or satellite tv box to the television with a coaxial cable. In order to get this to stop you have to connect the cable box or satellite tv box to the television with an RCA/composite cable. Then you will have to change inputs to the appropriate one with the input button on the television (press it repeatedly) or with the input button on the Sharp remote (press is and then scroll down with the down arrow and press enter).

If you are not using a cable box or satellite tv receiver you can try connecting a signal booster to your coaxial cable but that is not guaranteed to work.

With the bell dish we have the oblong dish can get 100% signal for satelite 91 and 100% on satelite 82 but not both at the same time?

Guest 10

With multiple satellite dishes, you will get a lower signal strength on mulitple satellites as opposed to individual satellites. The reason being when pointed at one satellite, you are pointed directly at that satellite. With multiple satellites, you are pointed in the general direction of the multiple satellites so the signal will not be as strong compared to pointing directly at the individual satellite. Normally, a signal strength 50 or above is sufficient. I hope this helps.

Connecting coaxial cable to dvd-v9700

I was thinking of using the RF modulator box, but in this case, it might not work, since signal should be coming from the cable box. What I dont know if there is a converter for signal from a coaxial cable to an RCA. However, the only way to connect is via RCA.
