You did not say what type of body Nikon you have and if it is any of the D-60 to D-300 there is a hood and you push the built in flash in its storage configuration. Good Luck

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Each time I press the shutter button to take a picture the flash keeps flashing fast on and off 3 bursts of about 10 flashed then it takes a pic ??? help

The built-in flash can function as an autofocus illuminator. This helps with focusing in low-light conditions in the AF mode.
To disable this function, press the menu button, then select service1 menuitem, then AF illuminat., and finally, select OFF.

Internal flash not working on olympus e500

you will need to try to reset the camera first through the camera menu by placing the camera mode to P, press menu, right arrow to card, down one to custom reset, right arrow, ok, yes to reset. else you will need to send to repair center

Yes, please see the following table: Optional Flash Flash Control Mode Capacity FL-50 TTL Auto (Super FP flash)/ TTL Auto/ Auto/ Manual/ Manual (Super FP flash) The FL-50 flash can be connected with the E-300 camera through flash power grip: FP-1 and flash cable: FL-CB05. FL-40 Auto/ Manual The external flash cannot be used with the built-in flash. * Only Auto and Manual mode can be set in the concurrent use of FL-40 and the built-in flash. (For their specification design, E-300 and FL-40 can not communicate in TTL Auto and R-TTL Auto modes.)
