There is no belt for spin instead thier isa coupling which directly couples the motor to the transmission.
if your machine isnt spinning yet does drain the wash/rinse water the coupler is the most prable trouble if it doesnt drain the water the lid switch would need to be checked

You say your belt is a little loose. When the motor starts to spin the belt may become more loose, causing the belt to not spin the pump at full capacity. I would suggest you change the belt. I think you will find your problem. Good Luck Friend.

Spin. Working short time do not put cloth water out

Sounds like the belt that spins the washing drum is slipping. It my need to be adjusted or replaced, or try washing a smaller load of laundry.

My steering stiffens if i put on the air conditioner

By fan belt do you mean the serpentine belt that spins all your accessories? If so check the tension on the belt. The belt tensioner controls this. If the tension is good, then one of your accessories is likely not spinning like it should causing the belt to slow down when the ac is on, causing the power steering pump to not spin like it should. I would take the belt off, spin each component separately and see if anything is stiff.

Washing machine has smell (burning) and doesnt spin or drain tub.

Sounds like the belt may need to be changed. it eh pulley are spinning but the belt is not, nothing will spin and the friction of the pulley against the belt will cause a burning rubber smell

Got Dirt Devil Featherlite, keeps burning the belt out immediately and there is only one way to put the belt on...have put on 4 new belts.....what up?

Hi There,

When a belt breaks immediately after installing it, this can ONLY mean one of two things. The first is that the belt was put back on incorrectly, and it may be pinched underneath of the beater bar. This would cause it to break immediately, but I seriously doubt after 4 belts that you put the belt on wrong all 4 times.

The second, and more probable cause is that your roller brush has gone bad. This could be why the belt broke in the first place. In order to test to make sure the brush is bad, unscrew the bottom plate, and remove the brush like you were changing the belt.

Hold the brush at the very end on both sides, using only your finger tips. While holding just the bearing caps, try spinning the bar with your thumbs. Does the brush spin freely in your hands? It should spin completely around 4-5 times on each spin. If the brush will not spin, or if you feel any resistance to it spinning, this is the reason why your belt continues to break.

If the brush can not spin, the motor shaft will continue to try and spin the belt, but since the brush doesn't spin, and the belt doesn't move, the motor shaft will just burn right through the back end of the belt.

If your machine is actually the model that's listed on this Fixya repair page, the Dirt Devil Featherlite model M085845, then your machine uses the following roller brush:
Dirt Devil Plastic Brush Roll for Model 085845 Part # 2-881020-000

The next time that change the belt, install the brush back into the machine, but this time pull up on the belt towards the brush to make sure that the belt spins freely, and spins the brush as well. If the belt doesn't spin the brush, there's some issue, and the belt will break as soon as you turn the machine on.

I hope this helped you. If you find out that you don't need a new brush, feel free to use the comment section here on the repair page and let me know, I'd be happy to walk you through some more advanced diagnosing. If you found this helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair and / or leave feedback for me.

Thanks so much,

Chris Jones

Washer motor spins but not the belt in spin cycle only,

It doesn't spin If your washer won't spin, check these: It doesn't pump or spin It pumps, but doesn't spin It spins only with the lid closed It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows: If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt. If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Serpentine belt

The pulley's aren't supposed to spin freely with the belt on. The belt connects all the pully's to the crankshaft, which does not spin freely because it is attached to the pistons inside the engine. To turn the pulleys, you have to turn the crankshaft, which in turn moves the pistons inside the engine up and down.
