I broke the left hinge on my HP OfficeJet J6480. Does anyone know where I can find parts for this printer? Before someone asks, no one on eBay is selling a parts unit at the moment and while I can afford a new printer, it seems like a huge waste to throw a printer that works like new just because an easy to change part just needs replacing.

1. Enter the product hp officejet j6480

2. Select Go then click on the match found below.

3. Select your operating system . If you are not sure which operating system you have
1. Go to the start button and right mouse click on computer
2. Select Properties
3. Windows edition will let you know what version of windows you have and the type of system you have will be displayed under system type

4. Next select driver and download your HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver

I always use HP printers and every time i get a new operating system (vista, win7 etc) the HP software does not fully install. I go to HP.com to install the latest software for the appropriate OS but rarely get more than just the printer working. If i require the scanner or cd print features i have to do that from an older computer or older operating system that the printer was originally installed on.

RIGHT REAR HINGE ON CARTRIDGE BAY SEEMS TO HAVE POPPED OUT, RENDERING THE PRINTER UNABLE TO PRINT (LID WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY ON RIGHT SIDE).

find the switch where the door presses to tell the printer its closed.
find something to press that when you want to print then remove it when you have to swap cartridges

The hp director scan function no longer works properly. How can I correct the problem? Can I load just the hp director from the printer software?Printer is an hppsc 1210 all-in-one.

If this issue occurs, after installing the new version or revison of internet explorer then try to download the "Critical update to resolve an issue with HP Director after installing a new revision of Internet Explorer" from HP Website if the operating system is Windows XP.

Download the HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer
Install the HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer while installing do not connect USB cable at any point of time if it asks, check USB connect later
Download the HP PSC 1210 All-in-One Printer
Install the HP PSC 1210 All-in-One Printer connect the USB cable when it asks to connect

Download the printer full feature software based upon your operating system.

HP Officejet J6480 ink level control

Your printer is the genune hp printer. It will not show the ink level of refilled and non-HP cartridges. Try the original one the problem will get rectified.

Sorry but you need to replace it with genuine HP part, call HP directly or a local HP partner repair shop...

Yes I know it has to be replaced with a genuine HP part. As far as I know HP does not sell this part and I was hoping someone would know a website that sells parts for these printers.

They're companies online that strip down old printers for parts. I came across a few in the past but I only fond one recently and they haven't responded to my email.

I found a replacement part at a website called PartsHere www.partshere.com.
There is a list of parts for the J6480 here: http://www.partshere.com/hppartslist/hpparts.asp?part=CB029A

First, though, I have to figure out how to get the broken hinge off. The screw on the back will not unscrew.
