It sounds like you have the typical sony burn lcd issue. You can confirm this if the background of the "stain" is the absence of blue, if so read on.
There are basically 2 manufactures of lcds for projectors and rear sets, sony and epson. Sony will bleed, epsons will shift or ghost images. The problem with sonys is due to heat and it physically burns the liquid in the lcd. If you think about it, it makes sence that it happens on the blue only. Blue is the hottest wavelength of light, and on top of it, the UHP lamps as they get used up, will shift twords the blue specturm, so you allways have to make sure that the vents are clean, fans are working and that the lamp is replaced at normal suggested times.
Unfortunatly there is no fix for this one other than to replace the entire optics block which is more expensive than a brand new set.
