Philips DVP3345V powers off after 10 seconds.....

It will display both screens, DVD and VCR, but I cannot eject the VHS tape currently inside or get either to play before it powers off on its own. Before it powers off the DVD tray opens and closes but nothing will play.

Even when selecting no functions, the machine just powers off after about 10 seconds

Vcr ejects after 10 seconds

The tape is wound tight or is not wound evenly creating friction. There is a safety feature designed into the vcr that senses that there is too much tension. Fast forward all the way then rewind all the way. This is the way it was in the 70's 80's for cassette tapes and vhs tapes. If the tape still ejects then check the belts.

Power off when inserting vhs tape

I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of the tape and did not damage my original.

VHS tape plays for a few seconds and automatically ejects

My guess would be dirt on the rollers inside the VCR. They sesnse a jam and ejct. Try a VCR cleaner (with cleaning fluid) and see if that helps.

Stays on for 5 seconds, thinks it has a DVD or VHS tape in

I am afraid the set has a bad or broken tape transport, or better known as a bad tape carriage.
