Have had my Magellan for almost 2 years and was working fine until today. When I pressed the button to start it, it would not turn on. A few times you saw the start up screen for maybe 3 seconds than it went blank. Have no clue what my next step should be.
I had the same problem. A new cradle and DC cord fixed everything. Anyone have any idea what model Magellan will upgrade you to for $200.
The weakness of the 760 is the cradle. Is the power wire or the cradle loose or wiggles? You may need to buy a new cradle if that is the case. They are expensive. I soldered my power wire right into the cradle and it worked fine.

As I could not figure out what was wrong with it, I called Magellan customer service and was told my Magellan Roadmate was now known as "a legacy". Imagine not even 2 years old and it is "a legacy" and therefore parts are no longer made for it!! They did tell me I could mail my unit to them and they would "upgrade" me to another newer model for an additional $200. I decided not to as I want to get away from a Magellan product because of this problem.
However, I do want to thank you for taking the time to try and help me. You are probably right, that the problem is the cradle and with it being so expensive, why bother! Thanks again!
I went to use my 760 this past weekend and could not get it to power on. At first, I thought it was my power socket not sending power to the unit. (The power plug is so tight that it pulled my socket loose). Got the power socket repaired and again tried to power the unit on.
No dice. Went inside the house and used the AC connector. Can't even get it to power on this way. No blue light, so power must not be making it all the way to the GPS unit, however I do hear a slight buzz.
After trying to figure out what the problem is, it must be the cradle.
