Primarily, the common compression of audio and visual digital data can be defined by the mean of MPEG4. An MPEG4 file that was introduced in late 1998 is a video file saved in the MPEG-4 container format. Its purpose is to set the standard for a number of both audio and video coding formats.

MPEG-4 is a graphics and video compression algorithm standard that is based on MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and Apple QuickTime technology. Wavelet-based MPEG-4 files are smaller than JPEG or QuickTime files, so they are designed to transmit video and images over a narrower bandwidth and can mix video with text, graphics and 2-D and 3-D animation layers.

How do I record in mpeg4

You need a Mpeg4 recorder. And if you have blue ray and want it to rip it to mpeg4, you need a decoder on you computer.
Just google around on Mpeg4 and digital ripers. But be aware you can't connect the DVD player to a computer with the DHMI connector, because there are digital rights, inhibiting to use full HA on a computer when connected to HDMI.
