  1. Change your screen resolution.
    • 1 Right click on the desktop and choose "Properties" (XP) or "Personalize" (Vista.).
    • 2 In XP click on the "Settings tab, and in Vista click on "Display Settings."
    • 3 Adjust the resolution slider to the right or left (right will set a higher resolution, left lower resolution) and then click "Apply." The screen will change to the new resolution.

    • 1 Alter the text size in the program you are running. Many programs have their own font-size settings that can often be altered in a view, settings or options menu.
    • 2 Look for an option to change font size or zoom. Often you can click on a "View" menu and then click "Zoom."
    • 3 Zoom to the required size. (For many programs, you can hold down the "control" key and then use the mouse wheel to automatically zoom in and out.)
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in Vista.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Personalize" then "Adjust font size (DPI)," then "Custom DPI."
    • 3 Enter a number between 100% and 500% (higher numbers mean larger text).
    • 4 Click"OK."
    • 5 Click "Apply."
    • 6 Restart your computer.

Cant change screen size

If the computer will not let you adjust the screen resolution go to dell's website and search your computer model. Download and install the latest video/graphics driver for your computer. That should fix the issue.

Dell 1815dn will not scan legal size documents

I had exact same issue, could not scan in any size larger than Letter; changed Scan Default settings for paper size but made no difference. Based on dmf1984's suggestion I did same: went to Start -> Dell -> Dell Printers -> Dell Laser 1815dn -> Network Scan and changed Scan Paper size to Legal hit apply then tried scan again... problem solved92a90e38-52a9-4018-8666-d2da0be7f6f8.jpg

Dell Monitor is stuck in power save mode. tried

Hmmm...Stuck in power save. I guess when you push the power button, the monitor says power save, then blanks to power save, no matter if the Computer is on or not.
This means the monitor does not see any signal from the computer. I would suspect the computer first. Try a different monitor (borrow one).
If the size of the monitor picture is too high and the monitor is an older LCD, you may have set the image size too high (1280x1024 will not work with this monitor and it will do this very thing).
A broken or damaged connector cable to the monitor can also cause this. Was the monitor unplugged from the computer just before this problem?

Change the print size

Go to you control panel, open and bring up Display (properties). Click on Appearance and check to see that "Font Size" reads normal. I tried it on my Computer just now and the change to extra large is frightening. :D

When booting up, my Dell monitor says, "cannot display this video mode", therefore I have no display

you will need to hook a better monitor up to your computer temporarly and make the display mode smaller. once you see you desktop right click go to properties and go to settings change display size to a smaller setting. then hook up your monitor and adjust to the size that suits you

When I set the resolution to 1280x1024, the display is wider than the screen and I have to scroll to see the edges. At 1024x768, everything is fine. (Monitor is a Dell 1908FR-BK.)

IF the screen is wider then try to change the settings from the monitor buttons. We change change the screen size , move it , change brightness, etc.

I need to change to size of the print

You have to change the size within the computer software (word?). Use a 11 or 12 size and arial or times as a standard. The mfc prints the job as given by software (with settings given by user).
