Hello
If you are using a Universal remote control with this set, some button functions won't coincide with the display. If you are using its original remote control, the contacts inside the remote control is dirty or dusty. You have to open the remote control and clean its contact pad and printed circuit touch pad with rectified spirit or medical quality turpentine. Never use petrol of such hard solvents to do this, becuse they will damage the rubber parts of the remote control. If it is a universal remote control doing this will be of no use. It will behave only like this. OK.

thanks, i have done what you said on the remote which is the original. I think its just a setting or maybe how it is cos i can get to the same function via different keys or settings buttons but still the same. I have set up thew source as the manual says but it does say that it mutes the program but i assumed it muted the picture in picture rather than the main picture. i hope im explaining it a little better and thank you for your reply.

If you have cleaned the remote control as I adviced you, and still the problem perists, the signals [infrared pulsed output] from the remote control do not changes according to which it was programmed. Either some rows in the remote control circuit board or columns in it are faulty. If this is the condition, the remote control is damaged and should be replaced. OK.

so its definatley not just a setting ive overlooked cos i can get on to this function from the settings page as well as the pip pap button and also 2 other shoortcut buttons, the remote is in very good nick and i got the tv off a friend, i think he only bought it a couple of years ago but he says hes never even used the function himself, i may try to borrow another remote if i can find one. thank you for all your help and i will try and persist with it. i have nevr had this function before so im not sure wot it should do,, the manual says something about muting the sound but it mutes the sound on the main pictur and i have my outside camera on the pic in pic function but the sound comes from the camera and mutes the tv. am i right in believing that i should have sound on my main pic and mute on the pic in pic. sorry if i sound a bit dumb but this function is new to me and is handy for my cctv outside

If so, the memory IC inside the device is faulty. it is an 8 terminal IC cam be located very near to the main system IC. Replace it with same number. Insist on same number as it is the critical part of your device, eventhough it is small; function inside the device is great. It can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. OK.

My sanyo tv does.not.have a remote and it is asking for a password..im wondering if there is a reset option because it's a second hand tv and I don't have the password. Thanks

Try this. Press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote control while plugging the power cable back into the outlet. Keep pressing the {MUTE} button until the TV powers on with the Service Menu displayed. Use the {CH+} {CH-} buttons to select menus. If this doesn’t work for you, ask for more answers and include the model number of the Sanyo.

When viewing TV with DTV, the sound will occasionally mute right after the clipping in a program. Just like the function that protects the speakers from loud sounds. (This function is OFF) The sound comes...

Just try connecting the input to another TV and check whether the same problem comes. If it does, the problem is with the input. If not, the signal strength is not good enough to the microcontroller IC to switch off the mute. Normally when the signal is missing or weak, audio mute gets operated.

Mute is on when I turn my vizio on. How do I

The OSD consists of several menu options: Picture Adjust, Audio Adjust, TV Tuner Setup, Parental Controls,PIP Set Up, or Special Features. When in the TV menu, select the Audio Adjust and make sure the mute is off. It may be worth checking the manual which is avialble from: http://www.vizio.com/downloads.aspx

My insignia 37 inch tv

Press menu and use the up or down arrows to find the audio section adjustments. Press the right arrow and again use the up and down arrows to find tv speakers, Press the right arrow to either turn on tv speaker or turn them off ( This is used only if you are using the output signal from you tv in to you stereo input to have surround sound.) Turn them on to listen to sound from the television speakers only. If this does not solve your problem, Press the mute button on you remote control to release the mute function. If all this does not work the telephone number for Insignia is 1-877-467-4289. Talk to them about you problem and see if your television needs some type of service to restore the sound. Hope This helps you with your problem.

Snap, crackle sound from Sanyo TV

It sounds to me as if possibly ya Main IC Amp Chip & OR the Output Capacitors are failing... Sometimes it is a sign of a power supply on it's way out... Either way it's time for a repair shop quote. Either that or it may be the speakers crossovers... to check this, if you can, try another set of speaker... see if problem is still there. If it IS, then it IS most probably as I said above.. If NOT then it may be one or both of the "Crossover Network" in each speaker...
