Color reproduction differs depending on the lighting conditions. For instance, when daylight, the setting sun or indoor lighting is reflected on white paper, the shade of white produced will be slightly different for each. By setting the WB (White Balance), you can achieve more natural-looking color. You can also preview different color tones by trying the different settings under the actual light source, and checking the result on the viewfinder/monitor. You can choose mode from Auto, Preset and One-touch.

This camera does not have a customizable white balance. It does have some presets -- they are:

  • Auto (default)-automatically corrects white
balance. Ideal for general picture taking.

  • Daylight-for pictures in natural lighting.
  • Tungsten-corrects the orange cast of household
light bulbs. Ideal for indoor pictures under tungsten or
halogen lighting without flash.

  • Fluorescent-corrects the green cast of fluorescent
lighting. Ideal for indoor pictures under fluorescent
lighting without flash.

To access them, press the [Menu] button and look for White Balance -- the icon is a Sun and Light Bulb symbol.

My Canon G11 - most indoor pics have a strong yellow-orange hue. What can I do to correct this or is the camera broken?
Light from ordinary light bulbs has a strong yellow-orange cast, which our eyes tend to adjust for without thought. Check the white balance setting on your camera. This is to adjust the camera for the color of the light, to try to make white come out white, hence the name "white balance." Set the white balance to incandescent (light-bulb icon) for indoor shooting under light bulbs, or to automatic to let the camera take its best attempt.

Try experimenting with the white balance setting. Taking pictures in bright sunlight with the incandescent setting will give your pictures a very blue cast, making things look a little colder. There are other settings, such as flourescent.

TAKING NIGHT SUNSET PICTURES
this is becouse your not setting the "white balance"
up in the camera first,,,some digital cameras have a manual set up for "white balance" what the camera is doing is trying to put the color cast thats in a sun set right so it looks like day light,,,and you wont that color cast in the pitcher to give it that feeling,,,unless you over ride this white balance you will never get the color you are after,,, i use 35 mm film for sun sets
it will wip a digital camera every time here,,
but its horses for corses,good luck with your sun sets,,, but over ride that white balance first if you can

What is and how do i adjust the white balnceon my fujitsu S550 digital camers?
Adjustment is in the menu screen, you shouldn't have to go very deep as it is a frequently adjusted setting.
White Balance is how the camera interprets white depending on ambient lighting. Have you ever noticed how when you are taking pictures inside at night and all of the light comes from lamps and the flash that your pictures have a yellow look? Take a picture under flourescent lamps and the pictures look different as well? How about outside? Best true color rendition on the picture taken outside, but different than the others.
White balance is a way for the photographer to adjust the tone of the picture to accurately reproduce the true colors seen in real life in the picture. Most cameras have an automatic white balance and they usually work fairly well. But for the best results, set it manually. Your whites will be white and skin tones appear accurate.

In daylight every photo whites out can you help
Take a look at the settings on your camera. There should be a way to change the white balance. White balance is used when you shoot a photo in the direct sunlight. Have you ever noticed the whites in a picture suddenly look blue? This is because your white balance is turned off or not in the correct mode. The same goes for your pictures that look too white. Take out your camera guide if you have one and look up White balance. You should be able to find the correct settings for the pictures you are trying to take.

I have some exposure problems (I think) with Kodak EasyShare DX4330
There should be an option in your menu to do whats called a white balance. Whenever there is an significant change in lighting, it is usually benifital to do this so that the camera knows what color white is. If you need help with the white balance, your manual should tell you what you need to know.

Pictures reddish or orange
Although normal room lights (tungsten lights) appear white to our eyes, their light is actually much "warmer" than daylight, giving a reddish or orange color to pictures. This happens with digital and film cameras. To prevent or lessen this reddish or orange color: If your digital camera has a selectable White Balance mode (check your camera's User's Guide) and you are not using the camera or external flash, set the White Balance mode for "Tungsten" light. If your pictures are reddish even when you use the camera flash or external flash, the room lighting is overpowering the flash. Try setting the White Balance mode for "Tungsten" and continue to use the flash. If your camera does not have a selectable White Balance mode, use the camera flash or external flash when taking pictures in lighting that makes your pictures turn out reddish or orange. If you can, turn down or turn off one of the room lights (without making the room too dark), or move your subject so that it is not being hit directly by the room lights. If you can, when taking pictures in the daytime, try opening any drapes that might be covering windows. Letting in natural daylight improves the color quality of the lighting.

Pixpro AZ528 brand new doesn't turn on Yesterday I bought a Kodak Pixpro AZ528, got it home put together, and it wouldn't turn on. When plugged into the wall the screen said battery 100%. The charging indicator then went off. Unplugged from wall, still wouldn't turn on. Returned and got a different of the same camera, and it's doing the exact same thing. I've tried resetting while plugged into the charger, holding power button 20 seconds (as suggested somewhere else) to no avail. Seems weird that two of the same brand new cameras wouldn't work. Any suggestions?
