since the t-mobile is a sim-card capable phone, all that should be necessary outside of setting a few minor settings should be making sure that you have an unlocked phone. (i did some more research, and it seems that this phone can not be disconnected from the t-mobile network without the use of a "magic sim", a shady item along the lines of a fake "smart card" for your phone to trick it to thinking it's being managed by a professional. I'm not even sure that's possible.) When purchasing a cell phone for your area, there should not be restrictions on what phone you use, as long as it is GSM for T&T, and has the frequencies used by your area. A Quad-band GSM phone should be sufficient for use. Unless your cell carrier restricts the use of certain non-purcahsed phones or will not support setting the phone up, anything else you need should be able to be answered by your cell provider.
