  • Anonymous Jul 09, 2011

I want to unlock Toshiba DVD player SDP93S. So far two experts have posted the same answer, which is generally available on the net, and does not work with this model.

  • Anonymous Jul 18, 2011

All the solutions submitted are the same
    1. TURN ON THE POWER AND REMOVE ANY DISCS, CLOSE DRAWER 2. WAIT FOR " NO DISC " TO APPEAR ON YOUR DVD PLAYER SCREEN 3. USING YOUR REMOTE CONTROL PRESS: REPEAT 5-6-7-3-2-9 CONSECUTIVELY 4. THEN PRESS THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON ON YOUR DVD PLAYER 5. NOW TRY A DVD DISC FROM A DIFFERENT REGION

IF THIS IS NOT PROVING SUCCESSFUL RESET THE DVD PLAYER BY PRESSING STOP AND PLAY BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE CONTROL FOR 5 SECONDS SIMULTANEOUSLY, DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE ANY DVD DISCS IN THE DRAWER. THEN TRY STEPS 2 - 4 AGAIN. and it definitely doesn't work with this model.
    Thanks
    Terry

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. It won't play DVD's and keeps saying wrong area code...I live in Australia, bought the PC in Australia and am trying to play Australian DVD's but

hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it.
hope this helps

DVD Playback is only Black & White

Different areas use different colour systems. The most common types being PAL and NTSC. What I think you might have done is changed the colour type setting to one that is not compatible with your TV. If you have the manual look up the colour settings. If you haven't got the manual look around the main menu for them. If all else fails use the factory reset.

My Toshiba SDP93S portable DVD player won't work.

The power supply adapter may be dead, should be tested, if okay! remove the main battery will load player down in some cases. If still no result! cheaper to replace than repair.

I WANT TO CONVERT MY TOSHIBA SD501 KB DVD PLAYER INTO A MULTI-REGION PLAYER. HOW CAN I ACCOMPLISH THIS TASK?

Hi,
On most of the DVD players regional set up cannot be changed. However just for trying; type your players brand and model number into goggle along with 'hack code' and you should be able to find some codes to change the region code on your player. You need to find the correct 'Hack' for your model.
Google 'DVD Hacks', there are many sites out there that will provide the details.
It generally consists of pressing a secret sequence of buttons on the remote.
Like holding the mute button down and simultaneously pressing 6758, they are all different.
It then enters a special mode where you can change the DVD region or make it region free.
In my experience the major brands like Sony, Sharp, JVC, Toshiba,Panasonic etc are harder to change, I guess the major players do not want copyright issues.
The cheaper DVD players as unbranded, or never heard of, are better. They are all "MULTI REGION " or "region free "players play any region dvd.

-------
additional info for DVD regions:
DVD region codes are a digital-rights management technique
designed to allow film distributors to control aspects of a release, including
content, release date, and price, according to the region.DVD video discs may be
encoded with a region code restricting the area of the world in which they can
be played.

The American DVD Copy Control Association in California requires that DVD-player
manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system - according
to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, an Australian government
agency.

There are six different official regions and two informal variations.[citation
needed] DVDs may use one code, a combination of codes (Multi-Region), most
codes (Region 0) or every code/no codes (Region All). The commercial DVD player
specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs
encoded for a different region; however, region-free DVD players are also
commercially available.

I purchased a refurbished portable DVD player SDP93S, it arrived with NO information at all !! I don't even know if l have all the items that come with it !! Could you let me know what l items should have...

should just be the unit and the a/c adapter. If you bought it refurbished that would be why there is no retail box. If the unit works and the battery charges, thats all there is to it.
thank you,

PANASONIC DVD RECORDER DMR-ES35V

DVDs are region coded. This means that they will only play on a DVD player from the region the DVD was produced to be watched in. For example, an Australian DVD is Region 4. It will only play on a Region 4 player. If you try to play it on a player that is set for a different region, it will probably not play. One way around this is to get hold of a multi region player. These are widely available. Alternatively, you should be able to watch the DVD on your computer, although you may need some region free software if your computer's dvd player has been locked. Usually computer DVD players will allow you to play DVDs from any region a few times and then they will lock to a particular Region Code. If you are in North America, you will need a PAL player. The only other thing you may be able to do is to unlock your existing player to convert it to region free. Many DVD players can be unlocked but you would need to find the unlock information for your paticular player. Hope this helps....

Australian dvd doesnt play on my dvd player

America makes it hard for any of us to view CD's from other regions. I've had to pay out to have videos and DVD's converted. Other options are playing them on your computer dvd with software that will play different regions. Go to New Zealand or Australia and buy yourself a player that will play other regions. Other countries cater for international viewing.
