Are you saying you are stuck on the screen that says dell on it as soon as it turns on, and that f2 to enter bios does not work? if so, the issue can be related to a bad hard drive or bad motherboard. i have come across this issue alot, normally on desktops, and those are the 2 fixes that are usually the problem.

Hello Mr. Expert I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop. I upgraded to bios to A03. Is it possible to upgrade to a higher version. Thanks,

Hi!

The A03 is for now the latest version for the BIOS of Dell Dimension 3000

And a tip for you: upgrading bios is only necessary when real issues occure and the computer doesn't work properly.

Please let me know if it helped

Best regards!

Bij doorstarten moet ik steeds f1 indrukken en bij het afsluiten krijg ik een blauw scherm met de tekst Hardware malfuction call your hardware vendor for support NMI:parity check/memery parity...

NMI parity error (Non-maskable Interrupt) is generally a motherboard or a RAM issue.
You can try flashing the BIOS to A04 (You'll need to copy the flash executable to a bootable CD or bootable USB drive to run the flash.
Try individual or different RAM modules
if all those do not resolve, issue is most likely the motherboard.

Loading PBR for descriptor 2... MODEL DELL DV051

That is the boot loader message to boot to the NTFS Primary boot partition (Primary Boot Record for Descriptor 1 is the Utility partition)
Normally, this message flashes and the system boots, since it is not there is a failure in the boot process.
#1 run diags on the Hard Drive (CTRL+ALT+D at boot) and see if it passes
If it does
#2 Boot to you XP CD, press R for recovery console, and run the COMMAND CHKDSK /R see if the system will boot
If no go, go back to recovery console, try the command BOOTCFG /Rebuild then see if the system will boot
If That fails, try reinstalling Windows
If Diags Fail or all the above fail, replace the hard drive

Dell Dimension Startup

try going into your BIOS and changing the boot sequence, it may be set to boot from floppy instead of harddrive. or you could just reinstall windows, but that sucks cuz then you lose all your data and programs. and not to be rude, but you shouldnt have bought a dell, they are full of problems.

My dell dimension 8400 bios a03 fails to bootup and displays this alert on the screen: Many attempts to boot the system have failed at checkpoint [Ithr]. how can i recover from this?

You need to reset your bios settings. Open your case and remove the cmos battery for 10 minutes. Caution: unplug all ac plugs before you open your case. put the battery back in and turn it on you should see an error message saying: you need to set system time and date. If you see this then you have successfully reset your bios settings and the defaults should load up. follow the instructions to change your time and date settings and save. reboot and hopefully you can boot up. I hope this works.
