Maps Unavailable??? I just got my Kenwood KNA-G510 installed in my car. I am electronically illiterate. I try to go to Where To? in my GPS and it says maps are unavailable. What do I do? I did not see anything in the users manual to help me. I feel extremely stupid for asking, but I am making a 12 hour drive this weekend and I dont want to get lost.

You should go back to that place who installed it for you and ask them. I'm not an expert, just another poster with another problem.

It's on the side of the unit. There's a cover that flips up to reveal the SD slot.

GARMIN 510 2009 MAPS

I'm quite sure you need to purchase the 2009 City Navigator SD card to update the maps. That what I did last year to get the 2008 City Navigator maps. You will need to leave the SD card in the unit to use the new maps though..

I haven't been able to determine whether it's possible to update the actual install map on the device. I'm guessing it's possible but would require a computer and an map update to write directly to the device. If I find steps to update the installed maps, I will post them here.

Garmin's KNA-G510 won't find satellites unless I tell it I'm in another state and it expands satellite search

I have the g510 with a kenwood head unit. On the satellite screen, on the left it only shows one satellite and on the right it is showing that there are upwards of six or so satellites that it is receiving reception from. I thought it might be the antenna, so I bought a new one. Still having the same problem. It cannot find my location. I've updated the software, I don't know what to do!!

Navigation not working

Recheck your connections on the kna-g510 and ensure it is getting power, not too familar with the kvt-819, but I've got the kvt -915 and when I pull up the screen, there is an icon right by the src icon, that looks like a wrench. Press that and find A/V interface and ensure that the navigation input is set to RGB, also you can back out and go to user interface and ensure the Navigation is set to auto intstead of manual. That may be the case if it is similar to the kvt -915.

Kenwood KNA-G510 antenna?

After contacting Kenwood tech support several times, a tech finally came out and said if the unit is under warranty send it back to them and they will swap it since they do not repair it. If the Unit is out of warranty, then contact Garmin. When I contacted Garmin, the tech stated that Kenwood is pulling a fast one instead of standing behind their product. So who actually owns this product Kenwood or Garmin? Both names are on the product, but no one wants to repair it. Anyway to make a long story short there is a new update for this product 3.60 as of Feb 2008, downloaded and the unit works fine. Should resolve this issue.

if you haven't done so already, upgrade to the latest firmware and see if it fixes the issue.

firmware can be found here

if this doesn't fix the issue, post a followup, if it does, please mark this as solved.
