I have been getting a readout that states that there is a paper jam (scanner) on my Brother MFC-3240C and I don't know how to correct it.
I have followed the instructions and I have not been successful.

You have to know the paper path of your printer (for any printer both laser and ink jet). Basically that's the path the paper takes from start to finish inside the machine. You'll have to check for any paper debris through the front and back. I would need some more information required to help further diagnosis this if you had paper jams in the past and last things done etc.
well have you cleaned the head manually or by using the software thru the pc. if you have done so by hand it may cause aproblem try cleaning using the software and see id that helps.
When ever you get an error message like the one you are describing, there should be a numerical code with it.
Most of the time when you get an error code like this, it is a mechanical problem with the machine.
Try unplugging the power for about 5 minutes to see if that clears it out, otherwise you might as well replace it. A machine like this has been discontinued and is not worth paying for repairs.
If there is no jam it is generally a mechanical issue such as...
1. The planetary arm assembly not engaged correctly 2. Ink cartridge/purge switch harness not connected correctly 3. Purge cam switch broken 4. Gear(s) on maintenance unit broken 5. Paper feed motor broken 6. Main PCB defective
I find that if there was a paper jam, and the user pulled the paper out, option 4 is most likely. It is the smallest of cracks but ruins everything! You will need to contact your local ASC for repair, find it here. Thank you for using FixYa! – Don’t forget to rate our service.
im assuming you are using regular copy paper, is so fan the paper out before you put it in the printer and also check to see if the roller inside the printer are clean. they pull the paper threw the machine.
HI You may have missed a VERY SMALL piece of paper some where. Check it again -use a flash light, magnifying glass BUT make sure there is no paper piece any where in the transportation route of the paper.Reset the machine-power off then on from the wall power outlet. I did have this with a friend's machine and found a small piece in the side of the paper route. Best luck and hope this helps Jay
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM , BUT NOTHING WORK! I TRYED EVERYTHING
