Only selected models came with a 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive.

A floppy disk is square and thin and hard plastic on the outside. If your pc has a floppy disk drive, it would be located below your CDROM. The drive looks like a slot with a plastic eject button next to it. You insert the disk into the drive which makes the eject button pop out towards you. When you want to eject the disk, you press the button. When the disk pops out, this makes the eject button become flat again. Floppies have a round disk inside the hard plastic case. The media on the round disk inside resembles camera film or negatives.

Floppies were used to save documents & pictures on when pc's first came out many years ago. computer software was also sold on these disks the same way that it is sold on CD/DVD's now. The floppies do not hold much information. Most software programs would take anywhere from 5 to 10 disks to hold all of the data. People installed programs by inserting the disks one by one in sequence. Each disk was labeled with a number.

Your computer does not have a "floppy disk" on it. it might have a floppy drive installed on it that can play floppy disks depending on which model of the Acer Aspire you purchased.

Hope this helps?

I doubt you have one. Computer manufacturers have not been installing floppy disks for some years now.

Acer aspire sa80-9b7z won't start up. Fan starts

Firstly check the monitor, if you get 8 beeps as it is starting up, this points to graphics problems. Trying another monitor. If the problem remains, swap the graphics card or use the onboard graphics card.
If this fails and, more importantly, you are not getting any beeps (single beep would indicate your CPU is ok), the problem is likely to lie with the motherboard.
To help you further, please repost with the number of beeps if any, you get as it tries to boot up

Aspire sa80 how to get it to boot up with dvdrom so i can install vista

Enter bios setup by pressing F2 key or DEL key. Once you are in bios setup, go to BOOT or STARTUP setup. Look at the list of devices listed from first to last. It might has floppy or hard disk as first boot list. By using + - or pageup/pagedown, move your dvd rom to first place. This means that when you startup your computer, dvd rom should pick up as first boot. Don't forget to put the vista cd in the rom before your computer starts. Just a basic thing to remember, make your dvd rom first priority on boot or startup list. After finishing the loading, make sure to reverse the setting back to normal. Thanks

Wont read discs

wash dvd or cd in warm soapy water then dry with very soft clean cloth, going from the center in a straight line to the outer edge. if this does not solve the problem do a system restore to the last date when you where able to do it.
hope this helps

Cannot copy from pc to disk. get message saying disk is full or not writable. tried various type of disk with same result.

Its possible that the heads inside the 3.5 floppy drive have drifted so far that the drive is now not usable. A replacement drive would be the fatest solve.

My step daughter has an acer sa80 computer which has a bad virus and needs to be reformatted but she has on disc can we do anything

Hi:
Hopefully her tower still has a Operating system COA sticker on the side, which is the software license. You can order restore disk sets from Acer for approx $20, or get a local shop to reinstall for you, but that can get expensive. Another option is to borrow a disk set with the same operating system, and use your license key to install it, and also download all drivers from ACER.

Have an acer aspire sa80, formatted hard drive, no missing : Multimedia Audio Controller Video Controller (VGA Compatible) USB Controller drivers. I use a dongle to access wireless internet, and as usb not...

Hi,
You need drivers for your system.
All the official acer drivers for your system are here :-

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/power_s260.html#driver

As listed at the site:-

Realtek Audio Driver is your Multimedia Audio Controller.
NVIDIA VGA Driver should be your Video Controller, if that don't work try SIS VGA Driver.

SiS 661 chipset driver should fix your usb problem, if it dosn't update windows to SP2.
Get that from here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Then try again with SiS 661 Chipset Driver.

You should also install the rest of the drivers for your aspire sa80.

You said you had no access to internet so burn the drivers using a friends computer (one with internet) and install from the disc and you should be fine.
