Question about Dell 926 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I have a Dell A960. There is a piece of styrofoam jammed at the base of the paper intake feed and I can't get to it. Is there something I can remove to access it? Opening the printer top doesn't get me there. Thanks!

The suggestion to use a paper clip is a good one, but the styrofoam is jammed too deeply for this to work. There is no access panel in the back that I can see, but that's really what needs to happen. Is there another way to get inside? Removing the bottom, pulling out the paper guide...?

Thanks for your suggestion....I've already tried that too. Guess I'll have to take it into a licensed repair shop. Appreciate your help!

Usually i would not advice you open up anything apart from the printer top. Removing other components apart from the printer top makes your warranty invalid and also could lead to serious damage to the unit. Instead i would advice you get yourself a long pain of tweezers and get the styrofoam out. As long as you are sure it is a styrofoam which is jammed there then a long pair of tweezers will remove it for you fair and square.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Thanks for the response. Taking it to a licensed repair shop is good as it reduces the probability of damaging the unit completely. To get that out from a repair shop should not cost much and the outcome is guaranteed.

I don't know if that printer has a rear access panel, so here's a little trick....uncurl a thin paperclip, putting a loop at one end for your finger, and a barb bend at the other end (think of the sharp part of a fish hook) at the other end, Use the hook to grab and remove the Styrofoam.
Another solution, although more tricky and potentially dangerous, is to put some crazy glue on the end of a piece of cardboard, and try to glue the end of the cardboard to the Styrofoam and gently remove the cardboard, hopefully with the styro in tow!

attach the paperclip to a piece of coathanger if it's in that deep.

My Lexmark X2480 printer starts to feed the paper, it goes crooked and then an error message appears that there is a paper jam. How can I get to the rollers to clean them please? Thanking you in advance...

Normally this occurs when there is a tiny piece of paper stuck between the front roller and the feed metal piece. This can be cleared by putting something like a piece of card in (after lifting the flap at the front) and sliding it sideways until you can find the paper. Long nose pliers or tweesers can then be used to remove it.

Alternatively, put the card in and manually feed it though - as sometimes it can pick up and clear the paper jam.

Hope this helps.

Paper goes in sidewides and gets stuck when it trys to print

Sometimes you need to clean the rollers that pull the paper through the printer. There could be a piece of paper torn off stuck back there that causes any paper going through to jam.

Also, make sure the paper sits tightly in the feeder tray but not so tight that it bows.

The paper keeps getting jammed. The paper slides down the right side of the feed first and wrinkles up. I have tried all the trouble shooting listed in the manual and nothing helps. Help?? I can not print.

turn the printer off and on.. lift it shake it and drop it from 2 inches height.
if you have already done the rest this should work or else printer's bad.

Paper jam. paper pulls towards the right hand side and jams

Sound like you have something stuck in the paper feed path, check for a paperclip or similar, it may be that you have had a jam and torn off a piece of paper inside the printer which is now stuck, when removing jams from any nmachine allways pull paper in direction of feed never back on itself as it can cause this very problem

Paper Jams

Best paper is a about 20lb paper. Make sure you fan the paper to get air between the sheets so it doesn't try to pull multiple sheets at the same time.

Blow out with compressed air (available at office max walmart etc.

Make sure there are no small pieces of paper stuck anywhere in machine

Printer jam

Sounds like something is stuck in the track. Try taking the cover pieces off and looking for something lodged in there.
