I had the same problem. The chip is faulty and should be replaced by the store that you purchased the chip. This is no fault on your part and by the way the chip I had was also 4 GB

SOURCE: Micro SD 2 GB just stopped working

The PIC or EEPROM inside these cards may not be working. I guess you best bet is to buy a new one try Kingston brand or go with another Sandisk.

SOURCE: I have a simple question.

You need an adapter that will convert it into a regular pro duo card. They usually come with the card when you buy it but else should be availabe at you local electronics store.

SOURCE: when i insert my 8 GB micro SD card it says the same thing.

Your 8GB card is considered "high capacity". You will need an SDHC USB card reader to read it.

Hello Sir !! Welcome to Fixya !! There are two possible reasons for this error.Either memory card is corrupted or your cell phone memory card slot is got damaged.

  1. IF your memory is got corrupted then you can troubleshoot your memory card by inserting in another phone. If it is not working then your your memory card is got expired. There is nothing you can do.
  2. If your memory card is working then your phone memory card slot is damaged. You can get it repaired by your nearest customer services center.
If this works for you. Then please rate or token of appreciation will be esteemed. Rizwan.

It sounds like in your situation that you may have a bad card. If you cannot get your card to mount to your phone for storage, I would try to find access to a pc that has an SD card slot that you can try to format it that way. If the card still wont format, your looking at a defective card and will need to purchase a new one.

You can find Micro SD cards here for purchase.

look at page "3/9" of this document "http://www.pqi.com.tw/upload/download/SD%20%284%29.pdf" and it will show on the lower right hand side of the picture a slot that says "write protect", move that tab to unlock the card.

BTW this is a good technical document for SD cards in general if you are interested in how they function.

you need to either purchase a micro sd card adapter or a usb memory card reader, they are both pretty cheap and available in most supermarkets/electrical outlets but cheaper still on ebay/amazon/play etc it all depends how fast you need it.

How do you put your micro sd card in the computer?

if theres a slot for an sd card on your computer you need a micro sd card adapter. if it doesnt have an sd card slot you need to buy a usb memory card reader (making sure it takes a micro sd card first)

both are widely available in supermarkets/electrical outlets or on ebay/amazon/play etc and are very inexpensive.

How to expand my memory and what type of memory card to buy

It will certainly take a 2GB microSD card.

This link on Sandisk forums tells how to check if you have a version 2 that will take a 4GB.

forums.sandisk.com/t5/Sansa-e200-series/Sansa-e250-compatible-with-4-GB-Micro-SD-Card

Where to buy one? My local supermarket has them, or you could check a camera store, or even office supplies. as well as the usual computer or electronics stores.
