1. Install the MP Navigator EXsoftware located on the disc that came with the printer.
2. Go to Start > Programs > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX > MP Navigator EX.
3. Select Photos/Documents or Stack of Documents.
4. If Photos/Documents was selected, open the top of the scanner and place the document you wish to scan on the glass with the top facing to the left. If Stack of Documents was selected, flip the plastic tray open on the top of the printer and place the stack of papers in the tray.
5. Select the Document Type in the left pane, then click the Scan button.
6. The scanning process should start. When it's finished, select Save to save the document(s) as a JPEG, or select Save as PDF to save it in PDF format.

I don't know what software i need for my Canon Pixma Mp160 printer with scanner. The printer works but when i press SCAN nothing happens; i was told i needed software. Are they free? Where can i find it?

the scanner doesnot work like that. when you load the all in one driver cd, the scanner driver loads with it. there should be a scanner icon somewhere on the desktop or in my computer. it onlt scans from the computer by putting the document on the glass and press scan button on computer and it will scan and save on the pc.

Use of Scanner

On this model there is a SCAN in black and white or color buttons but you need to have something on the glass to scan. Once it scans it prints!!!

Now lexmark software if installed comes with a program to scan with. you need to check under your prgrams folder under lexmark for the scanning software that was installed with the print driver.

If you open the lid and you do not see the white light chances are your scanner has and needs a bulb inside and at the point to install one of these you might want to concider a new printer.

Please be considerate and leave your feedback and comments and ratings before you leave, Thanks

Lines on my copies

As the page you wish to copy goes through the document feeder, it passes the scanner as well as a white plastic band that the scanner "compares" the dark writing or data on the page to. If this white plastic band is not very clean, the scanner reads the dirt as if it is part of the image you are scanning. Try cleaning the band as thoroughly as possible, as well as the small piece of glass to the left of the larger glass on the flat bed scanner. Make another copy to test your results.

Hope this helps!

HP F2180 not scanning

I was having the same trouble. All you do is turn the printer on and make sure there is paper in the tray for it to print onto (obviously), then lift the lid (keeping it open) and place the piece of paper you are scanning onto the glass. The side you want to scan needs to be face down in the bottom left hand corner. Then instead of pressing the scan button (which did nothing for me either) press the black or colour button that is above it, depending on whether you want to scan in colour or just black and white. Worked for me! Hope it works for you too.

Problem when scanning

If it is under warranty, contact HP.

Believe it or not, there probably is something in your scanner. Often times it is a very small piece of dust/fiber. If you are using the document feeder, the check the small piece of glass as the scanner bulb remains stationary and the paper is fed by. If you are laying the paper on the glass and scanning, then you will need to look at the scanner bulb itself. Run a scan with no paper and see if you see anything. If not, you can try to take it apart and clean the bulb (but do not touch the bulb with your bare fingers), with a light wipe of a tissue. If after cleaning, it either moves or goes away, then it is dust related. If it remains in the same position on the page, then there is a scanner bulb problem.
