Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would suspect that the small noise is from the drain motor which might be jammed by something!
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
(If these actions have not cured the problem, it could be the control board OR the main motor. Motors will show weaknesses when commanded to spin.)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Frigidaire Affinity Front Load Washer wont drain.

If your pump had something in it, it wouldn't have had to clog it, but rather just stopped the internal spinning. My coworker removed a dollar bill from his water pump, and it fixed the problem he was having (same as you've described) and the water pump worked well after it was re-installed.
Worst case scenario, you reinstall it and it doesn't drain and you spend 40 or 50 bucks online for the part. I would reinstall and see if it works. I'd bet on it.

Usually that means the drive belt is loose and slipping. You should be able to tighten or replace the belt.
To test the belt you have to remove the washer back.

Kenmore model # 110.23832100 Washer would drain but wouldn't spin or aggitate. Replaced coupler. Now will spin and agitate, but will not drain.

sounds like it's in the re-assembly since the water pump is directly connected to what you just did. take it apart once again and make sure all is put back right and water pump is properly seated on motor shaft.

It sounds like the drain pump has stopped. If it still has water in it and you turn it on (in the spin only cycle) the drain pump should be running and you sould be hearing the water drain. The washer will not spin until the water is out. Depending on how handy you are determines whether you can access the drain pump and remove the obstrustion. There is also a trap to catch debries from going into the pump. This could be plugged, but normally you don't hear a buzz. You hear the drain pump working but no water going out. Good luck

Hi

If the washer is not draining then it is due to a clogged drain pump, drain filter or a kinked drain hose. Clean the drain hose, inspect if the drain hose is plugged. Also check the connection to the drain pump and make sure wiring is fine. Check the electrical connections with a multimeter. If it still doesn't work then you would need to replace the drain pump. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If your washer doesn't drain or spin, you may read and learn what parts may cause this. First, you will want to check your water pump. You need to make sure it is working. Make sure you check the belt on the pump. Make sure it is not broken or loose. Also, make sure your pulley is not stuck in place. Sometimes, they will stick or barely turn at all. If this is the case, you will need to replace it. If the pump, pulley, and belt are working, make sure your motor is working. You should be able to hear it if it is. If it isn't, check your lid switch. The lid switch can cause the motor to not work. It may need adjusted. If not, go ahead and change it. A bad lid switch may cause the washer to not work at all. Now, if your pump is pumping and the washer still won't spin, you will want to check your belt and clutch. Once again, the belt may be broke or loose. Check to make sure your clutch is not worn also. This may be a case of a bad lid switch again as well. You could have a bad drive motor. This is what controls spinning, draining, and agitation. You could have a broken motor coupler. Over time, they will go bad and need replaced. It is possible that your transmission is slipping or damaged. And lastly, you could have a bad basket drive ir spin bearing. This is what allows the inner tub to move. If this is the case, you will probably hear loud sounds or loud banging.

My amana front load washer wont spin and is showing an "nd" error message. what does this mean and how do i fix it?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what I understand the error code ND means “No Drain issue”. You’ll need to check for any restriction in pump assembly. It can also be due to a restricted drain hose or loose wire at pump. If after cleaning the drain hose the issue is not resolved then it means the pump has gone bad and unfortunately needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
