Can a SATA CD-RW drive be used in a Dell 3000 with IDE drives? I didnt know and bought a dumb CD-RW that turned out to be SATA. All I want to do is replace the non-working CD drive currently in the thing. Thanks

Not without adding a SATA drive controller card to the computer. If you can afford it, hang on to the SATA unit, as your next computer will definitely use it, and buy another PATA drive for this computer.
