Better list?
1: make sure wifi card is there first. or all this is a waste, ok?
2: reboot modem. if all devices in home using wifi are dead.
3: reboot router, if not part of modem above, for same reasons.
4:use Ethernet wired first. get that working first so you can connect to the internet and get drivers missing for you wifi card, inside.
now that internet works we may see XP actually find drivers automatically, using its PnP engine, but XP is dead, now at Microsoft dot com. dead as door nail. but hope springs eternal for XP (not)
The Device manager must show the wifi card is present and
not bleeding red errors, yellow errors or listed UNKNOWN.
IF is bad there, then the driver is missing bad corrupted or the wrong one loaded.
finding xp driver 99% of the time nets you a virus
most sites that say free drivers are malware sites feeding off the bones of the last few XP users on earth. (sad to watch)
I do have safe drivers. they are here. (I do not work there)
but takes skill to use. (I download them)
then I use virustotal.com on the package, it is clean !
ask for help or post the photo of you wifi card so I can read the sticker and tell you what you have and what drivers are possible.

here is the one known safe site for such relics. WLAN.
version 12 should have your driver but is stored in torrent free site.
as you can see there are vast wifi chips used.
that is why I use DM (properties IDs) to find the true name.

Internet is dead. - dev-id-1vbx0tmk5jh3hk3cmdz40urc-2-0.jpg there are 3 ways to ID the wifi card
1: read is label sticker (eyeballs do not lie)
2; use DM and details tab above.
3: run HWinfo32.exe portable, (free ) run it and it tells you if wifi is there and what chips it is, maker of chip and model.#

hi thanks for using fixya!

I suggest that you should bring your laptop from your retailer in which you bought the laptop. I'm sure that it is still under warranty.

Regards!

SOURCE: i got eee pc 900a but wireless not working i try

  1. Turn off your computer
  2. Turn it on and immediately begin rapidly pressing F2 by itself
  3. Go to the Advanced tab by pressing the right arrow key once
  4. Go to onboard devices configuration by pressing the down arrow key once, then pressing Enter
  5. Go all the way down to Onboard WLAN by holding down the down arrow key until it is selected
  6. Press the minus key (-)
  7. Press F10
  8. Press Enter when it asks you to save configuration changes
If that still doesn't work, make sure you have the drivers you need from here:

SOURCE: I was told press F2 simultaneously on startup, nothing happened

You need not to press F2 or tab or escape unless you need to do so. If your system is ok, it'll automatically boot up, but if there's boot up problem with your system, then that's different. Thanks for using FixYa.

You need to install an ATI Hotkey driver. Please go to this website and choose your model an operating system: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-en You will then be shown a list of all drivers. There you should find the hotkey driver.

I have Installed Windows 7 ultimate but my video controller driver (VGA) can not be found. It does not allow me to install a VGA driver.

From the manufactures site, they only have VGA driver to support Windows XP. Did you upgrade your system from that OS?
It may work but if it doesn't, its best you downgrade back to xp. Here's the link for where to download it http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+PC+900HD%2fXP&p=20&s=1&os=29&hashedid=n%2fa

After restoring with a windows xp disc and downloaded the drivers off the site the wireless and wired internet does not work. I downloaded the drivers off the gateway website for the computer but it just...

XP is too old to access the internet anymore! MS stopped updating or supporting XP years ago. Any system they stop supporting will eventually not be able to communicate with the internet. Operating Systems(XP) have to be update to communicate with internet upgrades, once that update process stops, your XP or others, will no longer work on internet.

I have a asus eee 900hd pc wont type the key board

It's probably a hardware failiure, but it could also be a loose connection, if it's loose, you need to open up the laptop, which I would suggest being very careful on. If you have a warranty, get support and such. There's a virtual keyboard on control panel's accessibility options in Windows XP. I'm not sure about Vista.
