I'm not familiar with the Vivitar camera, but take a look in the setup menu. Maybe you need to activate Pictbridge there?

Nope. Uses "PictBridge" for printing directly from an infrared-enabled camera phone (with PictBridge ready phone and proper cable). Also print directly from a PictBridge ready digital camera/DV camcorder.
