SOURCE: Candy CPCA250 GB Freezer feezing but fridge not cold

Hello jonnyclewlow
Welcome,

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly

This is my first thought

Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.

1. Fresh Food control is set too
warm.
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.

3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.

The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum

SOURCE: Chescold caravan fridge 3 way

Yep same prob as my Chescold model RC1180. I pulled the entire gas circuit apart as the fridge works well on 240v haven`t yet sussed the 12v.
I suspected the thermostat ( on the gas side ) there is a tiny jet on the side of the aluminium block at the base of the electric thermostat, also another springloaded 'valve' at the bottom of the aluminium block. The ' valve' is actuated by the thermostat Dial, as it screws a pin down onto a plate which departs from an O' Ring seal letting gas into the chamber where the tiny Jet is seated. This tiny Jet meters the gas to the Pilot burner.
Anyway ' That' wasn`t the problem! lol
The Problem was a 'Clogged Pilot flame Jet'
Fix..... I stripped as piece of fine electrical wire 12v and cleaned the jet out. It is a # 26.
The Jet itself looks like it has been 'Stamped' out rather than Drilled, this may account for some fridges working better on gas than others as there seem s to be some distortion on the Jet Orifice. I will buy a new Jet and a #26 drill and replace the original one.
I am just testing the fridge on Gas now...going like a Trojan... bonus is ive got a little 3 sausage hot plate over the Gas exhaust and am cooking dinner while the beer is getting colder !

SOURCE: all of a sudden stopped getting cold in the fridge portion, freezer is fine

If you completely defrost the freezer and restart the unit and it doesn't get cold in the refrig portion it could be the internal fan that moves cold air from the freezer to the frig area if it does get cold after an hour or so then it is probably the defrost coil needs replacing. I am not familar with your exact model but this senario applies to many different units.

The fridge section of my fridge/freezer is not working.l have upped the temp control to coldest but still does not work. The freezer section is fine. What could be the problem

Hi
It sounds as if the defrost element needs replacing in the freezer compartment. This impairs the circulating fan causing the fridge temperature to rise.(and the freezer to work overtime)

How do I set my chescold to freezer mode do I put the thermostat on low or high

1) always list the brand name "chescold" AND the model number when you have a hardware query. Then google both or go to the brands homepage and see if they offer support.
2) If this involves a chescold operating on bottled gas, regardless of where the thermostat is set, it will like freeze as long as the gas lasts. Yes, even if the thermostat is set to OFF. If the freezer is being chilled by electricity, the thermostat WILL determine the temperature. My best "guess" if the chescold is powered by electricity, a high setting means increasing cold simply because who would make a freezer so that if you powered it to its highest setting, it would thaw out. I generally think increasing a setting means increasing the effect of the machine, be it a freezer or a heater. But it "ain't necessarily so."
3) Usually with freezers, the "higher the number" the colder the freezer will get. But it is a gamble unless you have received proper instruction.

as this product is rather ancient, manual is difficult to obtain, i can suggest enquire in sports stores which still sell this product, manufacturer is obscure, but fridge itself is one of teh best and cheapest on the market! new one is sold for anything between $500 and $800. it was first manufactured over 25years ago... have friend which is still using it...

have short preview for it:

and i think this will be best manual for it:

Replacing a fridge thermostat of a Smeg FC40RX fridge freezer

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS METHOD UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND ELECTRICAL SAFETY. The thermostat is behind the cooling element at the back of the fridge compartment and it connected to the dial at the top front of the compartment that controls its temperature setting. Remove the front plate to access the switch and you will see the wiring that goes to the thermostat. Connect the two wires to the thermostat and if the fridge does not start the thermostat is faulty. Replacements are available, but you may need to do some hunting on line. With the power off this time, securely tie a few feet of string around the thermostat wiring at the switch. carefully loosen the cooling element to free the thermostat and pull it free. Now tie the string to your new thermostat and pull the string back through so the wiring is pulled into place. Put everything back the way you found it and, after a short while, enjoy a nice cold drink.

Bought a chescold finch 3 way fridge but no instructions - help

The max/min gas flame is for adjustment of temperature when using the fridge on gas. The next one with 0 to 7 is possibly the electrical thermostat. I am not familiar with this exact model. One of the dials will be able to be pressed in. The idea is to press and hold this button in for about a count of five, then push the lighter strike. You will hear a click noise which is when a spark is delivered to the burner area. Some fridges have a small window or guage which shows if the flame has lit. You may have to look down the chimney. You keep holding the press button down after having depressed the lighter strike button for about five seconds. This allows gas to flow to the burner while the thermocouple heats up. Once the thermocouple (which is a small copper probe sticking almost into the flame) heats up, it will keep the gas valve open and if you then release the button, the flame will continue burning. The idea is that if the flame were to blow out, the thermocouple would cool and in turn act as a safety by shutting off the gas supply. Hope this is enough info.
