CHECK SEE IF POWER GOING TO IGNITION COIL IF NO CHECK IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE OKAY POWER GOING TO IGNITION COIL.NO SPARK COULD BE CAUSED BY BAD IGNITION COIL OR BAD COIL POWER TRANSISTOR.
Since you are getting good spark, I would guess first that your timing is too far off. Use a timing light to check the timing since the distributor was replaced. If your timing is too far advanced or retarded it wont fire up, but do exactly as you mention. Also, be sure your firing order is correct.
I would suspect the ignition control if you have already replaced all that stuff. I personally would replace it with an MSD ignition for better running and fuel mileage, but the ignition module should be a whole lot cheaper.
What exactly are you trying to fix? I use the stock type 3-wire distributor in my 68 Mustang and use an MSD 6AL box with a Blaster II coil. What's your truck doing? Why are you going to replace the distributor? Need more info. in order to help you fix your problem. Shoot me an email [email protected]. I'd be more than happy to help you through your problem.
