I have just got a zoostorm kangaroo vme50 and cant get the webcam to work, i've looked in the device list and it isn't shown. i tried Fn button & Esc together and nothing happened

Hi

you could try this combination of keys to enable/disable your webcam

FN+F1 then if you use skype or msn you could then try the camera to see if it works
also take a look in device manager under imaging devices to see if it in there and no yellow question mark beside it

if it is in there and has a yellow question mark beside it then un install it and restart the laptop
and hopefully on start up windows will re install the webcam correctly for you

many thanks

Key Ports

Try connecting to this URL:
http://status.messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx

If you can connect, then there are several different things that could be wrong:

I use XP. What worked for me was

Start > Run
Type:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Done.
Restart messenger.

If that doesn't work, try:

Start > Run
Type:
regsvr32 Softpub.dll Mssip32.dll Initpki.dll

Wait for all three boxes to popup confirmation.

If that doesn't work:

Start > Run

timedate.cpl

Internet Time Tab

Update Now Button.

After sync, try again.

I hope that fixes everyone's problems. I've never had this problem until I installed the latest Messenger.

Lifecam VX-3000 will not connect wth MSN Messenger?

It's not a driver problem based on the fact it works with other applications. Since it won't work with Messenger my strong suspicion is that's your culprit (Messenger)....even though it worked before.

Uninstall and try it again. When you uninstall make sure you delete any folders found in "Widows Explorer" that are under program files (not in Windows itself....or at least not at this point). Make sure you are using the latest version by the way since you are going to install it again anyway.

As to why it did not work you might want to check the Microsoft knowledge base...(there can be some sort of a conflict particularly if you updated software, downloaded patches, installed a new application, whatever).

If this doesn't work...run your antivirus and Spybot search and destroy on the entire drive. If you are not running an antivirus AVAST or AVG are both excellent (and free as is Spybot.)

Let me know if this does not work....odds are it will. Tango

Video driver loading problem after clean XP home install

Are you sure that you are installing the proper driver, I mean are u installing the driver for windows xp? If you are not able to install in the proper manner. Do like this Right Click on My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>Display Adapters. If an yellow exclamation mark is shown then it means that you have not installed the driver and if its not showing any confilct (yellow exclamation mark)then you have already intalled the driver and your video card is also working perfectly. And the problem could be something else. If confilct(yellow exclamation mark) exits.. Do like this. Right Click on the exclamation mark>Update driver>Not at this time> Install from a specified location>make sure u have checked "search removable media..." and make sure that u have put the driver cd in the cdrom and click next. If you have put the correct CD then windows will automatically install the driver for your laptop. During the installation if system shows a message "This driver is not digitally signed..." Click continue anyway. If none of the above things work. Download the latest drivers from the net. -ShaC
