HP DL160 g6 need to activate boot from DVD

Hi Fyamine,
While booting go into the BIOS, use either the dedicated keys or +/- to enable/disable the CD ROM boot ( in the Advanced section of device management), then go into the advanced boot tab and change the boot order (it should be CD->HDD->Pxe->Disabled by Default). After that, restart the server and wait for it to boot from the disk.

How to boot from a USB CD/DVD ROM MY System is Dell Optiplex 170L Thanking in advance

If you want to boot from a external cd/dvd rom here's what to do.
  1. Connect your USB CD/DVD ROM to your computer.
  2. After connecting, you must start from boot up. so Reboot your computer.
  3. You must go to your bios settings, so during boot, press DELETE or if it doesn't work reboot again and try F2.
  4. Now once on the bios settings, search for the boot device, or boot priority.
  5. You must make your USB CD/DVD ROM as First boot, or just place it at the top of the list.
  6. You can adjust the position by pressing (-)minus and (+)plus signs in your keyboard.
  7. Now once the USB CD/DVD ROM is at the top. press F10 to save the changes and click Yes.
  8. And that's it. Your PC will now boot from the USB CD/DVD ROM.
Goodluck, Hope my solution will help, Please give some feedback regarding my solution.

How can i boot my dell studio from cdrom so i can reinsall from external drive?

Turn on the machine, press F12 once the Dell splash screen is displayed, the boot menu will show up. From the Boot Menu, use up-down arrow keys on the keyboard and highlight the CD/DVD/CD-RW and press Enter. You will see another menu, select "Boot from Cd-Rom" and press enter to select it. The system will boot up from the CD-Rom. Please note that this settings is only for one time boot, once the system is restarted, the boot sequence will be restored to the previous saved settings. If you wish to set it from the Bios, enter the Bios settings by hitting F2 or Delete (should be shown at the bottom of the Dell splash screen) while you see the Dell Splash Screen. In the Bios settings menu, go to Boot options and make the changes with the boot sequence.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Hi I'm Tony from the Philippines and I have a Compaq presario f756nr notebook pc (to be exact), i want to reformat my laptop and the problem i am facing now is that when i try to use my cd/dvd rom drive to...

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the details you have mentioned. The steps you have taken are correct and if the System/ hardware is ok, it should boot from CD Drive. Whenever i have faced such an issue, i always started afresh to check each hardware (CD, DVD, ROM, Hard Disk, Cables, Connections etc) and most of the times the issue was optical drive or CD/DVDs.

So, I recommend that make sure that the CD/DVD ROM is functioning properly. When the system is set to boot from CD/DVD, it must try to read CD/DVD after power on. It is indicated by spinning of the optical drive and blinking CD ROM LED. If there is a bootable CD in the drive, it should boot. You may try to boot the system through DOS bootable CD. Also, if you still have the OS on your system, you may check the CD ROM through windows.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Wont boot, not even from CD, won't open setup or boot options

At first you insert your system disc on your cd/dvd rom driver and restart your computer. Now press F2 or DEL until you get your BIOS option. Now go to advance option then boot option in that. Now change your first boot option to CD/DVD ROM DRIVE and save that change by pressing F10. Now restart your computer and continue your installation. Thank you.

System is no boot neither with cd-rom nor hard disk

Hi, Based of your post/description and assuming not hardware problem, you may have to set up the priority boot device in the BIOS to CD. This will tell your mb to look for a boot medium from the cd first. This is normally in the Advance Setup/1st Boot Device. Of course soon as installed, you have to boot from the HD next time. Good luck and kind regards.
