If it works, use it as long as you can.

Fixing snap-shooters is generally not worth it,
since digital cameras evolve rapidly and lose
value even faster with age.

Lenses

No. The S700's lens does not come off. You can add some accessory lenses to the front, but it's not the same thing as swapping one lens for another.

Lens adapter needed

Get yourself a step ring, 52mm for you S8000FD, this has a thread on the end and allows filter attachments. I have an S8000FD and have since bought a step up ring, UV filter and Polariser, plus another lens cap which fits on to the end via a pinch mechanism rather than clamping like the one provided by Fuji.

Lens adapter

Hi

I do not believe that it is possible to use a lens adapter with this camera or even filters.

The lens that comes with it has a wide focal range and the camera itseld is sold as a compact.

You may need to look at a fully digital SLR to get this feature

62 size

If you want to add other lenses, either macro, wide angle, telephoto or just filters, they go directly on the adapter. That's why the thread size (62mm) is important because that's the best fit for that adapter. If you get other sizes you can still use them with step rings but that adds to the expense and stepping down can cause vignetting.
