You will need a new Windows cd with a program to boot up the system again for the manufactures do not give you one when purchased.

No operating system found

The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB...

Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

Pxe -e61: media test failure, check cable PXE -MF: Existing PXE Rom Operating System not found How do i resolve this error message? How should i resolve & trouble shoot?

Hi,

Welcome to fixya.
-The first thing to check is your boot order in the BIOS.
-Unplug from power, remove battery wait a solid 5 minutes and try again.
-Go into the BIOS and choose the Default settings (press F9 to set defaults then F10 to save and exit).
-It sounds like it can't find a hard drive to boot from so it's looking for the Network to boot from.
-If you have an external CD/DVD drive try to boot your OS from that (after changing the boot order). If it did not work then there is a big chance that the problem is a failed hard drive.

When i turn it on it shows no operating system not found

boot record has been corrupted, or the hard drive is toast!....problem is that you have no cd/dvd rom so you cant insert a restore disk....if you wanted to test it yourself you would have to learn to boot from USB(flashdrive)....unless you have a external USB dvd that you can hook up to it to attemot to rebuild the boot record!

When booting the laptop it says PXE-E61: media

When you start your computer, the motherboard searches connected drives for the operating system. The search order is usually the optical (CD/DVD) drive first, possibly a USB drive next, then the hard drive. If none of these work, some systems are set to try booting the operating system over a network cable. What the cryptic message you're getting is telling you is that the system tried a network boot without success, and that maybe the trouble is a bad cable.

This all means that your hard drive isn't being detected, or that there's no longer an operating system on it. It's possible the connector from the hard drive to the motherboard has come loose, which can sometimes happen since laptops get moved around. The hard drive may have gone bad, or there may be a problem with the motherboard that is causing it not to find the hard drive. Or the hardware may all be fine, but something (a virus or other malware, for instance) has deleted files needed to load Windows.

When the computer first starts, you'll see a message about how to enter BIOS setup. The BIOS is the motherboard's built-in program, and through the setup pages you can see what devices it detects. This will let you know if the hard drive is being found. Some boards include diagnostic tests you can run on the hard drive if problems are found. You can also check the boot order; you may find that for some reason the boot order has been changed so that the network boot is being tried first. Strange things can happen to BIOS settings, often a sign that the backup battery for the memory where the settings are stored is getting weak.

If you have access to a Windows XP operating system CD, you can set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive and try using the Recovery Console feature. Information about this can be found at Microsoft's site.

Good luck getting your laptop back up and running quickly. Thanks for using Fixya!

Samsung x15 - Operating system not found.

sounds like an issue with your hard drive. you could try running chkdsk /r either by removing the drive and connecting it to another computer as an axternal drive using a usb hard drive adapter or using something like the hirens boot disc, going into mini xp and do the check there.

Installing windows xp on usb hard disk or usb drive

It will require a dos boot from the CD when installed. Then it depends on if the install CD recognizes it. If it does happen it should work.
