Fujifilm finepix S1000fd camera how do i set up camera for macro extreme close ups thanks phil

in shooting mode, press the "flower" icon on the command dial. That will put you into the macro mode for close shots. Frame your subject and press the shutter button to confirm focus. If you get an "AF" in red letters, it means you are too close to the subject. Move back a little and press the shutter again. You should be able to fill the entire frame with a standard business card.

Blurred picture with nikon coolpix 995 macro mode

When shooting in macro to get good depth of field you often have to shoot f/22. This does not let much light in. You have to hold the camera and subject tight. Meaning the use of a firm tripod is not optional. In most cases you need a longer exposure so wiggle is very important.

Optical / Digital Zoom

Press the "T" for telephoto and get closer to the subject. Optical telephoto zoom is like using a telescope to get closer to the subject before taking the picture. With optical Telephoto zoom you can maintain the full resolution and quality. After you have used all of the optical Telephoto range, the camera will continue to enhance the image with Digital Zoom. This enhances the image inside the camera by reducing the resolution and expanding fewer pixels to fill the same image space. Use the "W" Wide-angle button to back-up away from the subject or get a bigger area into your picture. You can even ZOOM IN on a picture in the playback mode for a better look at the details. Touch the Magnifying Glass Icon. Use the Arrow Keys to move around the display area.

Shooting in macro mode

The Macro Mode (flower icon / up (^) arrow key) operating range of the D-545 Zoom camera is 8 inches to 20 inches. This means the camera must be between 8 inches and 20 inches away from the subject for a picture to be in focus when the optical zoom is at it’s greatest wide-angle. The Super-Macro Mode allows you to shoot with the camera as close as 1-inch from the subject.
