After one minute the LCD screen turns black. Is there something wrong with the camera?

No. Panasonic iPalm cameras have a POWER DOWN feature to conserve battery power. If there is over one minute of inactivity, the LCD will power down to conserve the battery. Simply hit the SHTR button and the LCD will turn ON.
