How to solve simple tech 160GB EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE

I was having a problem on Windows 7 with the SimpleTech 160GB drive not being recognized, went to the SimpleTech site and could not find any drivers - Went to MajorGeeks and found a driver update program - watch when you install it, do custom install so as not to get new homepage or toolbar. But it scanned and found where my drivers were deficient. Updated driver and drive is now recognized

Device no reconized , my W7 don't want install drivers for simpledrive 640 GB pinifarina

The usb device not recognized error generally means the right drivers are not present on the computer. I would expect that Windows 7 can recognize most external HDD automatically, but you might need to install a driver for it.
But try the disk on a different USB port, or even computer, to see if it still works properly.

Simpletech model sp u25/120 not recognized

Hello,

Sounds like you have a failing enclosure, are you still under warranty?

If you're under warranty and have other copies of all your files, simply visit the western digital website and file a warranty claim. They are very good about replacing any drives that fail.

If you do have files you'll need recovered then you do have a cheap solution to try before commiting to more expensive solutions. It will void your warranty but frankly the warranty is useless if you need your files.

Take your drive to a PC shop and ask the technicians to test the hard drive in a new enclosure. If you're lucky it's just a failure in the enclosure and you should be back in business for less than $50. If this fails to work and you're located in North or South America contact www.armor-it.com if you live outside the Americas, contact me by replying to this page and I will direct you to an apropriate facility nearer to you.

XP won't recognize Simpletech Pininfarina 60 GB external hard dr

Make sure you are plugged into a USB2 port and not a low speed port.
You can Bing the device name and more than likely find the drivers at the origanial manf.
Try removing all other external devices before installing the new one.
Re-boot the unit with all disconnected.
After the until has setteled down, plug in your USB drive in the USB2 Port and see if the operating system see's the new installation.
If it is see correctly, then you can install your other devices.
Hope this helps you.
P.S. you may want to look at the jumper setting on the USB drive and set them to default.
