Re: Open cover
The cover opens in two positions. To completely open the lens cover for shooting images, slide the lens cover over until you hear two clicks. When the camera is on the first position, you can playback images.

There is a compartment under the saddle see picture 03 18 below. You need to use the key fob to open the saddle. The manual says open the fixings A and remove the cover B. what type of fixings are not stated.

follow the instruction on this picture and open your mouse.
Position the mouse as you would normally use it and slid the top down as shown in the picture attached here.
I had the exact same issue with the D-395.
I wiped off the battery contacts and the ends of a newly charged set of batteries to make sure they were clean. Also while the batteries were out, I opened and closed the lens barrier or sliding cover to try and drain any juice still in the camera. I put the batteries back in and slowly/gently slid open the lens cover. It turned on and works fine now.
The switch that detects when the slid is open isnt making contact, open it (remove the battery cover) and clen the 2 brass contacts, if that doesnt work, replace the back cover.
this happens because on the right side of mechanism is a push on switch and a metal plate pushes when cover goes out.If this is not working properly then no command exists to open the cas.elevator.Use a contact spray in this right side i mean the side of lens.If problem continues send it back to the shop...
The most frequent cause of this type situation is not having a power source attached, or a depleted battery pack.
Once the power source is available, some models require manually unlatching and opening the cassette compartment cover. When the cover is fully open, the videocassette will eject automatically.
Please try the following procedures.
1. Attach the power source to the camcorder correctly or use a fully-charged battery pack.
2. Fully-open the cassette compartment cover until it stops while sliding and holding the OPEN/EJECT switch.
The videocassette will eject automatically after a few seconds.
If the videocassette still will not eject, seek assistance from a Canon Service Facility.
