LG BD390 Blu-Ray Player Logo
Posted on Jul 03, 2011

I have a LG BD390 that wont start correctly, it just displays the text "please wait" it is showing the "pink dots" on the startup on the TV, it looks like its loading, but then nothing moore happens. I think i got this problem after loading new firmware, it stopped during the firmware update process. Is there anyway to reset the bluray player or reload another firmware to it ? i cannot reach the setup, the only thing i can do is to open and close the tray. /Fredric

Do you figure out a way to fix this problem? I'm wondering because mine started doing this today. All I can do is open and close the the tray and if I hold the power bottom for a few seconds it will turn off. Thank you. Amanda

Pink/burgandy dots or shadow on display screen Our church has a new PLC-XU48 - has 70 hours on the lamp life. we use for both video and text display. Last night when we switched from video to text; we...

Does it go away when you switch back to Video? if so then the issue appears to be related to the text mode. Text mode is usually for showing microsoft office documents from your PC, that kinda thing. If you have text within a video then you should leave it on video. It is normal to get the odd pixel burn out and the colors change and look pink or bright, in your manual it will say what the acceptable limit is usually less than 1% i forget what the norm is but a possibility some of the pixels have burnt out, i doubt this is a bulb issue as the bulb just projects what is sees on the small display screen inside. Check the lens is clean, if the item is under 2yrs old you are actually covered regardless of what warranty came with it, more so if you purchased this using a credit card, see martins money shop website for details of how to make a claim via your bank to get full refund, all electrical items are covered for 2yrs against manufacturing faults. You can try resetting everything to default and see if this helps.... another tip, never turn the projector off at the wall straight away after using, you must let the bulb slowly cool otherwise it can break, so always power off with remote or power button then wait until the bulb and fan has stopped before turning off at the wall to prolong the life of the machine. If the issue was the bulk you would not be seeing anything, sounds more like an issue with the mode and media your using but if the spots appear all the time in all modes then it points more towards a manufacturing fault, the display being burnt out in parts, thats my guess.... although if this is the case the fault will show in all modes.

Everything working fine, then home screen no longer displays on TV. On startup, pink dots go across TV screen, then TV goes black. Signal from most recent input is not coming trhough the audio or TV.

I have the same problem. I have an LG lcd tv as well. I have my cable box connected to via hdmi into the reciever then from reciever to the tv via another hdmi cable. I can watch tv and like the problem above see the pink dots on boot-up but I can't get the home screen to display.

some dvd recorders take a while to come on if you turn it on with no disc in and wait for it to load up also check that the cables are all in correctly and you are on the correct channel it should show a start up screen also try changing the channel through the dvd recorder if this does not work and you have read through the manual contact the manufacturer or supplier
