Sounds like an overheating issue to me. Make sure to keep it in a well ventilated area. Also, the next time you turn it on, put your hand near the vents to see if any hot air is being expelled through them. If there is NO air being expelled, you have a bad fan. It may also be that the heatsinks aren't conducting enough heat from the processors...this could be due to bad thermal paste. You may need to send it in for repair for this you can call 1800mysony.

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Try putting the backlight setting lower. I have mine on 4 and have had absolutely no issues since I got them a month ago.

Playing MLB the Show on PS3. Game loads fine, franchise I've been playing loads fine. But once I try to play a game, bar starts as game loads then game cuts off and goes to main PS3 screen.

Is your CD dirty or does it have any cracks? It might just be the problem. Otherwise, it could be corrupt game data. Clean the disc, if it still doesn't work I'd try deleting the game utility data and re-downloading it. Hope this helps in some way or another.

PS3: I was playing a game when the console just cut off witha a red light blinking. I had the system on for about 10 minutes at the most. I tried to cut it back on and it would start to cut on but then cut...

You have the infamous YLOD, aka. Yellow Light of Death. This is the number 1 cause of pS3's dying. It is an overheating issue linked to your CPU and GPU (the processor chips) You will need to find a local PS3 repair shop who can repair this. Do not try to attempt repairs seen on the internet yourself. You could make things much worse and render the unit totally unresponsive. The repair process takes about 3 hours.

Ps3 freezes a while into a blueray movie or playing games

YOur PS3 might be overheating, make sure that it is somehwere in the open, like on a desk, or at least has room if its in a cabinet. Also make sure that it is not on a rug, or any other heat conducting amterial such as a bed, rug, or even plastic.

PS3 freezes but sound still works

when it happens, give it some time, like 5-10 min. the ps3 is most likely accessing the hard drive, and if it is, shutting down in the middle of it could currupt your hdd. if it doesnt work, even after 10 min, call sony tech support, but if it works fine afterwords, i dont see why it would be neccessary. unless it gets worse, i think you should just turn it on, turn it off after a few min, then back on, and then play.

Sounds cut out, games won't save, PS3 won't turn off

Yikes!! I'd have to agree with you that the system is on the fritz, I suggest that you send it to a professional system repair service. (I can't suggest any off the top of my head, I used to know the number for one but I forgot it.)

Plays, freezes, green lines, won't come back on

It's a GPU problem. Are you comfortable opening up your PS3 or would you rather pay $150 through Sony?

Let me know.

In the meantime you can check out my PS3 blog for some tips, warnings, etc.
