How to copy panorama feature?

The panorama feature cannot be copied, it is 'firmware' of sorts that is integrated into the card itself. Olympus does offer several types of 'special' firmware in their branded SmartMedia cards (I believe there was a special one for printing T-Shirts and Mugs and the like....don't recall exactly, but did have a special supplement when I bought my C-1400XL).

Panorama mode?

The panorama mode SmartMedia cards are special function cards sold only by Olympus. I had a 2mb card with this function with my C-820L, however, I found that the panorama software available from companies like LivePicture and others works much better (and is much easier to use), than trying to use the special function card to do the same thing. With the panorama software instead of card, you can use anyone's SmartMedia. Did you buy your C2000Z here in Europe? I'm interested to know what software (if any) was included. I bought mine in the States and brought it back; it included panorama software from Enroute Imaging called "QuickStitch". I haven't used it since I already have "PhotoVista" from Live Picture. The other reason I opted not to use the special function panorama card from Olympus is that it requires the LCD viewer to be on while shooting; as you probably are beginning to discover, the LCD eats batteries, so I avoid it at all possible costs to try and conserve them.

"panorama function"

The panorama function on the Olympus Smartmedia card is a header on the card that allows the Panorama function to work on the camera, displaying "helper" lines on the LCD display and fixing the exposure to the first shot taken. Photos taken with the panorama function can be stitched together using the Camedia Software supplied with your camera. The Camedia Panoramic function is OK, but I prefer the results I get with PanaVue Image assembler. The header is only available on the Olympus cards. But it can be written on any smartmedia card using the smprep/Winhex editor process using and a card reader/writer detailed on this forum. Use the search function for "pan smprep" and you'll find out how.

Smartmedia Panorama mode

I don't know what you are doing, but my Nikon 4500 has a panoramic feature. It has nothing to do with the memory card. When you put it in panorama mode, on the second and subsequent shots, it shows about 1/3 of the previous shot in the viewfinder. You line that up with your present shot, and take the picture. The Nikon software, on a computer, can probably stitch the photos back together. You can do the same thing in an image editing program.
