Running windows 7 - trying to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and screen displays INPUT NOT SUPPORTED yet had same monitor on old computer running windows XP and game played fine?

It wasn't built for later versions of Windows. You will need to download the latest patch and troubleshoot the compatibility. Here's some information from Microsoft to get your Roller Coaster Tycoon working on Windows XP:

If you're running Vista or Windows 7, just right click on the file, then click on Troubleshoot Compatibility.
Unfortunately none you will want to go through to use it. I find that if I have a pre-XP compatible game, that they often run better under Linux with wine than Windows XP or Windows 7.
That said, Wine and UBUNTU are very easy to setup, are free, and come with a wizard that will walk you gently through the entire process. You can install it to a drive and even dual boot your system. I play World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, etc. the same way.
